We want to be your contracted inspection service!

August - 2024 | Vol. 27 Issue 8 - Celebrating 27 years of serving Water Utilities

We allow our dive crew the time to do it right!

When it comes to tank cleaning, it's important to prioritize quality over quantity. While super-low bids may seem tempting, they often result in rushed jobs and incomplete cleaning.

At our company, we understand the importance of giving our employees the time they need to thoroughly clean tanks. We don't cut corners or rush through jobs just to save a few bucks.

Our focus is on delivering high-quality tank cleaning services that meet the needs of our clients. So if you want a job done right, choose quality over quantity every time. We are also very easy to work with. We do not force you to clean your tanks every three years just to get an inspection contract. Tanks should be cleaned when they need it not when your contractor wants to clean them. We are here to serve you. Give us a call, you will be glad you did! Call 817-377-4899.

2024 Annual School Information
Top 10 Causes of Contamination Outbreaks in Public Water Systems
               By Ron Perrin
Giardia
Norovirus
Shigella
Copper

According to the Center for
Disease Control (CDC) these
are the top 10 causes of con-
tamination outbreaks in public
drinking water systems. All but
copper and fluoride can use
sediment that builds up on the
floor of water storage tanks as a
fertile habitat to grow in.
Microbes can find shelter and
food in even a little sediment
build-up and can quickly
become a public health concern.

Keep your storage tanks
inspected so you know what is
going on and make sure all
tanks are on a cleaning schedule.

Water Tank Inspections

Our inspections are the best in the industry documenting all state-required inspection points. We use an underwater camera and lighting system so you know what is going on inside your tank, allowing you to make the best decisions possible. See:

It is Hot Out There!

According to NCEI's Global Annual Temperature Rankings Outlook, there is a 61% chance that 2024 will rank as the warmest year on record and a 100% chance that it will rank in the top five of warmest years.

The outlook for the remainder of 2024 is HOT.

The official weather outlook from the national weather service again predicts above average temperatures for

Sep-Oct-Nov 2024.

Heat Loving Microbes

The record heat may also have an effect on stored potable water. Hidden microbes in your tank sediment may respond to the heat with unexpected growth.

Sediment on the floor of water storage tanks can become a safe habitat for a wide range of living organisms. If your chlorine use increased during warmer months you may already be fighting this battle. Keeping your water storage tanks clean and free of sediment may be one of the best ways to combat these microbes. We offer a Potable Water Dive Crew for In-Service cleaning which is the best way to get it done.

Since 1997 Ron Perrin Water Technologies, Inc. (RPWT) has inspected and cleaned water storage tanks and towers for Water Utilities. Using underwater cameras, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and commercial divers to inspect water storage tanks; has given me a very unique perspective, along with an understanding of the weaknesses of our current water distribution infrastructure.

Our potable water dive team can keep your tanks clean with no disruption in service and minimal water loss.

When sediment has been removed the habitat that allows bacteria and other contaminants like Crypto to remain in your tank is also gone. Physical removal is the only way to remove crypto.

Additionally when sediment is removed disinfectants like chlorine can do a much more effective job. Our customers report to us that they use less chlorine to meet standards after their tanks are cleaned.

STANDPIPE CLEANING

Is there a STANDPIPE in your water system? Our underwater cameras make quick work out of inspecting it. We can get a look all the way down to the bottom!

We also have the perfect tool to clean it! Wallie is our ROBOT Standpipe Cleaner for tanks over 70 feet deep.

These structures present many problems for our potable water dive crew. Wallie is able to work at depth until the tank is clean. He is equipped with two cameras and a cleaning tip so he can not only clean the tank but get great documentation as he goes.

norovirus

CDC

You can get norovirus illness many times in your life because there are many different types of noroviruses. Infection with one type of norovirus may not protect you against other types. It is possible to develop immunity to (protection against) specific types. But, it is not known exactly how long immunity lasts. This may explain why so many people of all ages get infected during norovirus outbreaks. Also, whether you are susceptible to norovirus infection is also determined in part by your genes.

Norovirus can easily contaminate food and water because it only takes a very small amount of virus particles to make you sick. Food and water can get contaminated with norovirus in many ways.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists Norovirus as one of the top 10 Causes of outbreaks in public water systems. The best way to ensure that norovirus or other contaminants will not invade your tank sediment is to remove it. Clean your water storage tanks, then maintain them by getting them on a cleaning schedule.

Since 1997 Ron Perrin Water Technologies, Inc. has been a leader in the inspection and cleaning of water storage tanks and towers. Our inspection methods cover all state-required inspection points. We also include a video captured by an underwater camera and lighting system that is able to properly inspect the interior floors of your facilities to determine sediment levels. We do all of this with no disruption in service and no water loss.
