Texas v. US:
An appeals court is weighing whether or not to strike down the entire ACA . A ruling is expected next month that could deprive millions of Americans of healthcare and protections of the ACA. Pre-existing conditions protections are one of them.
Hospital funding at risk
Our safety-net hospitals  stand to lose $12 billion if cuts to their funding go into effect in October.  Efforts are underway right now in Congress to delay these cuts, co-led and supported by New York Representatives. But their fate remains uncertain.

Breast Cancer Screenings

HEP continues year-round to work with its allies to raise awareness about New York State’s free breast cancer screenings. In New York City, a major partner has been the American-Italian Cancer Foundation @AICF_nyc    which provides a year-round mobile mammogram bus for no-cost breast cancer screenings. A snapshot of North West Queens in New York City where the foundation is very active shows increasing numbers of women coming for mammograms: 134 in 2016 with 17 first-time mammograms; and 244 in 2017, with 41 first-time mammograms. The year 2018 saw a drop-off due to a number of external reasons (180 screenings and 52 first-time mammograms). Most women are uninsured or have Medicaid or Medicare.
