TYPHOON SINLAKU RELIEF

Destruction of Typhoon Sinlaku

Due to situations around the world and equally explosive situations in our own country, it is easy to forget our brothers and sisters in disasters that threaten to close their ministries.

ORH, acting in concert with the Church, seeks to keep our minds focused on the work of the ministry to keep ministries alive, believers encouraged, and the Gospel going forth. ORH never forgets that our purpose is to maintain ministry for the propagation of the good news of the Gospel regardless of the world's constant upheaval.

Ken Keith, Mission Director at Harvest Baptist Church, wrote this message from his church on Guam about the great needs after Typhoon Sinlaku.

GRINDING-WIND DEBRIE

"Typhoon Sinlaku has caused devastating damage across Saipan, Tinian, and Chuuk — with gusts of 130 mph, tearing roofs from buildings, cutting power to thousands, and driving storm surges as high as 8 feet.

Harvest Baptist Church in Guam is partnering with Operation Renewed Hope to stand alongside local churches, Christian schools, and missionaries on these islands, providing practical relief and helping ministries rebuild. Our heart goes beyond meeting immediate physical needs — we long to bring the hope and comfort found only in a relationship with Jesus Christ to those suffering through this difficult time.

Now that the airport has reopened, we are sending a survey team to assess the damage firsthand, and we humbly ask for your prayers and support as we work together to help these islands."

"Any funding that would help us meet their physical need will also go a long way in Gospel work there." - Missionary Josh Wagner

Ken also sent this message introducing missionary Josh Wagner.

"This is from Josh Wagar in Chuuk.

Parem is a small flat island that was heavily affected by Sinlaku. Over the last year God has been allowing the door to open slowly to us to share the Gospel on this almost completely unreached island."Any funding that would help us meet their physical need will also go a long way in Gospel work there."

Pray for these people and ministries reaching them..

Damage is very bad and the needs are great. Pray that ORH may help God's people, and those they seek to win to Christ.

NEW ORH TORNADO RELIEF WORKER

Pastor Paisely with local family.

Pastor Scott Paisley, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Kankakee, Il, stepped out by faith to help his community after a local tornado. His experience with this type of ministry was limited, but his desire was strong. ORH was glad to take his contact about helping those in physical need.

It was a joy to speak with him about ways he could help community members. The contact led to discussions about being a depot for relief supplies or potential use of delivered food. He thought this would be good but not as effective as direct help to the families because of the need to rebuild.

ORH agreed with Pastor Paisely and supplied Pastor Recommendation Forms for up to 10 families. Each family he submitted on a form would receive $500 for immediate help. The money would be sent to his church from ORH, but the check would come from the church, not ORH, because the local church must minister in the community, not ORH.

He was great at relief work!

He wrote the following about his relief work experience as a pastor in a local community where a disaster occurred.

What a privilege to serve others in a timely, meaningful way. Your giving gave us opportunities to make several first-contacts and do them good by helping meet some immediate needs, praying with and encouraging them, and sharing the gospel of Christ. Thank you! To God be the glory!  - Scott D. Paisley, Calvary Baptist Church, Kankakee, IL
