Tace Baker is a pseudonym for Edith Maxwell. Tace is an old-fashioned Quaker name fitting for the author of a series featuring a Quaker linguistics professor. Edith is a member of Mystery Writers of America, Romance Writers of America, Sisters in Crime and its Guppies subgroup, and is on the board of the New England chapter of Sisters in Crime. She is also a member of the Society of Friends (Quaker).

Edith has published several short mystery stories and has a new series, the cozy Local Foods Mysteries, featuring organic farmer Cam Flaherty and the local Locavore Club. The first book in that series, A Tine to Live, a Tine to Die, will be published in June 2013 by Kensington Publishing.

She currently resides in Amesbury, Massachusetts, but is originally a fourth-generation Californian. She has two grown sons and lives in an antique house with her beau, their three cats, and several fine specimens of garden statuary.
