ANNOUNCEMENTS

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Sign up for Tag Days (9/24 & 9/25) — ALL band and orchestra students are expected to work at least one three-hour shift, and parent/guardian volunteers are also needed. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we need everybody to participate for it to be successful. Orchestra and other non-marching band students are desperately needed to take shifts this Friday due to a conflict with a home football game that had previously been an away game. Details:

  • Don’t miss your chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card! There will be two winners — one from band, and one from orchestra.
  • If there are additional shifts left after Sept. 15, students who sign up for and complete 2 or more shifts will receive an extra raffle ticket for each shift.
  • A $5 gift card to 7-Eleven will be given for the second shift worked!
  • Parents/guardians needed to chaperone, so please sign up!
  • Orchestra and Band students, please wear your concert uniforms. 
  • For those in marching band or color guard, please wear your MB/CG uniform. 
  • Students are encouraged to play at their post.
  • Additional guidelines will be covered in class.

Game Day volunteers needed on Friday (9/24) — Parent/guardian volunteers are needed on game days to help pick up food for the MB students, load/unload equipment, dole out snacks and water, pack up after the game, and more — please sign up here to volunteer.

Order Band & Orchestra Spirit Wear by 9/26 — The Spirit Wear store is open! Order your ROHS Instrumental Music and Marching band gear by Sept. 26. Local orders only (no shipping).

Register for the Band & Orchestra Chicago Trip by Sept. 30 — The Royal Oak High School Band & Orchestra Chicago Trip is scheduled for Feb. 18-20, 2022. Visit the Brightspark portal and use code T6WQRE6 to begin the registration process. Payment plans are available; details are in this flyer.

Support the J&A Siegel Scholarship Fund — The Autumn Harvest Fundraiser for the Jordan & Ashley Siegel Scholarship Fund is happening Oct. 8 at the Royal Oak Farmers Market. Registration $40 till Oct. 8 or $45 at the door. Click here to register; view the flyer here. The J&A Siegel Scholarship has been a great friend to the ROHS Band and Orchestra programs by helping some of our students financially. From Band Camp fees to instrument costs to dress costs and even assistance with Disney/Chicago trip costs, the J&A Siegel Scholarship has helped provide and ensure that all students can be on the same level.

Sign up for Remind — Marching Band parents and students must sign up for Remind in order to receive important announcements from the directors. This is for the 2021/2022 season — even if you signed up last year, you must sign up again:

B&O Parents: How to Stay Informed — Information regarding the 2021-2022 school year is constantly being updated. We will try to get the information to you as quickly as possible. The following will help:
  • Remind — Sign up for Remind (see above for Marching Band parent/student instructions).
  • Calendar — Check the calendar on our website — it is updated often.
  • Website — Visit the rohsbob.org website and especially the INFORMATION page frequently.
  • Facebook — Request to join "Royal Oak High School Band & Orchestra Boosters" private Facebook group.
  • Weekly Announcements — Be sure you (and your student) join our email list to receive these weekly announcements. Click on the blue button on the HOME page to sign up. Your email will not be sold or shared for any purpose other than ROHS instrumental music department news.
  • FAQ — Everything you need to know about band & orchestra on one FAQ web page.

 
UPCOMING B&O EVENTS:

Mondays through Thursdays (school days): 3:15-5:15 p.m. Marching Band rehearsals, rain or shine. Attendance is REQUIRED for Marching Band members.
