Grant Funding Secured for TCPUD Projects Underway
|

The North Tahoe Community Wayfinding Signage Project will boost user experience at five District facilities by offering improved navigation, visibility, and accessibility. The Project improves signage at Kilner Park, Tahoe City Community Center, Lake Forest Campground, Lake Forest Boat Ramp, and Aspen Street Parking Lot. The signs are tailored to the unique character of our community and add enhanced nighttime access with TRPA-approved lighting on the two signs at the Tahoe City Community Center and solar-powered lighting on the Lake Forest Campground entry sign. The new signs will be installed by fall.
The District secured $351,000 in Placer County Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) grant funding, administered through the North Tahoe Community Alliance.

The Lake Forest Boat Ramp Restroom Replacement Project replaces the existing seasonal restroom at Lake Forest Boat Ramp, originally constructed in 1993, with an ADA-compliant, year-round, heated restroom facility. The Project will begin after Labor Day, with demolishing of the existing facility and construction of a new foundation ahead of the installation of the prefabricated restroom. The project is expected to be completed by Spring 2024. Portable restrooms will be available during construction.
The District secured $177,750 through Proposition 68 Per Captia Funds, administered through the California Department of Parks and Recreation, and $75,000 from the California Tahoe Conservancy to offset the total project cost of $684,000.

|
The Fire Flow Capacity Improvements and Hydrant Installation Project on Dardanelles Avenue in the Dollar Point neighborhood replaces the aged and undersized water infrastructure installed in the early 1960s. Undersized water mains will be replaced with 8-inch mains, and three fire hydrants will be added, both of which improve water delivery and fire flows. These water infrastructure improvements are a priority for the District, designed to provide exceptional drinking water and meet modern fire protection standards. Construction is underway and expected to be completed this fall.
The District secured $317,000 in grant funding through the U.S. Forest Service, Region 5 to offset the total project cost of $1.49 million.

Newsflash: Flushable Wipes are not Flushable
|
|
The packaging may claim they are "flushable," but we have a news flash for you! When flushable wipes are flushed down the toilet, they don't break down like regular toilet paper. Rather, they clog pipes.
What can you do about it? Avoid the risk of a costly backup and only flush toilet paper down the drain. You also can help us by sharing the message that flushable wipes are not flushable with your neighbors, friends, family, and visitors. Take it from our Utilities Team, who has first-hand experience removing wipes from clogged pipes!

North Lake Tahoe Recreation and
Aquatic Center Feasibility Study
TCPUD along with our partners at North Tahoe Public Utility District have begun Phase III of the North Lake Tahoe Recreation and Aquatic Center Feasibility Study. Building on the prior two phases, Phase III will:
- Assist NTPUD and TCPUD in determining the best Property Based Special Tax Option to fund a Recreation and Aquatic Center and/or Field House Facility.
- Poll the community to evaluate the level of support for a tax measure.
- Provide critical data to help inform the strategy for placing a measure on the ballot that could fund the project.
