Happy new year greetings! I hope you've had a chance to take a break from shoveling and enjoy Tahoe's early winter storms. As we enter the new year, I want to spend a moment to thank you, our customers, for your support and trust in our services over the past year. Serving you is a privilege, and I am honored to lead an outstanding team of professionals pursuing our vision of building a healthy mountain community through our passion for public service.
Our employees are among the most knowledgeable and skilled in the utility, parks, and recreation industries, and I'm proud of the dedication and enthusiasm they show every day. Whether answering your calls for assistance, ensuring reliable sewer and water services, designing improvements to critical infrastructure, or supporting healthy lifestyles through our recreation programming, their commitment to service is second to none.
We look forward to the year ahead and to achieving the challenging priorities we have set for ourselves. At the January Board of Directors meeting, our Board reviewed and reaffirmed their commitment to the District's priorities and projects, initially set forth in the TCPUD 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, found here. This Plan, adopted by the Board in 2021, represents an ambitious commitment to furthering the District's mission and vision, with significant emphasis on capital infrastructure projects. Over the next five years, our investment in capital infrastructure is projected to reach nearly $100 million, including $51 million for water projects, $19 million for parks projects, and $25 million for sewer projects.
This year, our team will work hard to deliver projects that ensure continued access to clean and reliable drinking water, improve water infrastructure for fire suppression, and enhance the quality of life through parks and recreation services. Here are a few above and below-the-ground projects planned for 2023:
