Three Rubicon-Area Projects Improve Water Supply for Fire Suppression

This summer we're investing in the Rubicon Water System to:

  • Install permanent backup power to keep water running during power outages.
  • Add a secondary water system connection to keep water flowing in the event of a failure or required maintenance.
  • Increase the size of the pipe from the Rubicon Tank to ensure adequate water supply during high demand conditions like fire flows.

We're grateful to El Dorado Water Agency for funding support.

Social Media Highlight Month

After 14 years of dedicated service, we’re honored to celebrate the retirement of Ramona Cruz, TCPUD’s Chief Financial Officer.

Ramona’s legacy is one of “together we achieve more,” a phrase she lived by and instilled in others. As a leader of TCPUD’s finance, HR, and IT teams, she guided us through periods of tremendous growth and challenge, always keeping the responsible stewardship of TCPUD’S public funds a focus.

Her contributions spanned water system acquisitions, long-term financial planning, and even a global pandemic. Her calm, steady presence helped shape our work every step of the way.

Ramona improved the District’s financial transparency, led us through multiple comprehensive rate studies, and earned the Government Finance Officers Association award for excellence in financial reporting for eight consecutive years and counting.

But her impact reaches far beyond numbers and reports. Ramona modeled what it means to lead with heart. She believed in people, always made time to help others, and never settled for anything less than serving our community with integrity and compassion. As one teammate said best, “You could walk into Ramona’s office anxious or overwhelmed, and leave calm and grounded. That’s just who she is.”

Ramona, thank you for everything. Thank you for your mentorship, your leadership, your friendship, and your unwavering belief that together, we achieve more. We will miss your hallway greetings, your tenacity, and the joy you brought to work every single day.

Wishing you a retirement full of tennis, e-biking, and maybe even some golf!

💙 Rock and roll, Ramona.

Celebrating the North Shore Trail

We were pleased to host a ribbon cutting in June to celebrate the completion of the North Shore Trail Reconstruction Project. Community members and partners joined to recognize the shared investment in a safer, more accessible trail system that connects neighborhoods, businesses, and the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe’s north shore.

Originally constructed in 1973, the North Shore Trail is one of the oldest and most beloved segments of the region’s multi-use trail network and has served as a vital recreation and transportation corridor for more than five decades.

We are grateful for our funding support through the TOT-TBID Dollars at Work program.
