How TCPUD Prepares Our Community for Fire

In Tahoe, it’s not a matter of if the next wildfire will happen, but when. Without a reliable and resilient water system, firefighting efforts that help protect our communities can be severely compromised in the most critical moments.

TCPUD is a proud member of the Tahoe Water for Fire Suppression Partnership and we’re making significant investments to strengthen our water system like installing additional hydrants, building larger water mains, increasing storage capacity, and more.

Watch the video to learn how these upgrades support firefighting efforts and help protect our communities from wildfire.

The trail will be fully open Fridays through Sundays, and from June 28-July 13.

Madden Creek Water System Reconstruction Project Continues

We're making fast progress on Phase 3 of the Madden Creek Water System Reconstruction Project with all the water mains under Highway 89 now installed!

Replacement of this aging system will ensure the delivery of reliable drinking water, improve fire flow capacity, and increase hydrant coverage for the Homewood community.

This $6.5 million phase includes installing over 5,700 feet of new water main and 10 fire hydrants along Highway 89 in Homewood. Work will occur primarily on the highway shoulder, but some lane closures may be possible.

Thank you to Placer County Water Agency for project funding support.

🔥 Coming in Hot 🔧💦

Last month in Homewood, Mauricio and Dillon responded fast to a water line break—and got the job done hot! That means Mauricio installed a valve while water was still flowing at full pressure. 💪 No easy task, but critical to minimize service disruption for nearby homes.

Big thanks to our Water Utility Crew for stepping up, staying cool under pressure, and keeping water flowing for our community. 👏👏
