The Tahoe City Public Utility District was founded in 1938 to manage a single water system. Since then, the District has grown to become an integral part of our community, providing water, wastewater, parks, and recreation services.

At the Tahoe City Public Utility District, we're more than just a service provider. We're your neighbors, partners, and advocates, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our community. Together, we are building a healthy mountain community through our passion for public service.

North Shore Trail Reconstruction Complete!

Thank You! $2 Million invested in our trails, 2 miles of trail rebuilt, 42,000 square feet of new pavement, 125 safety features

🚴‍♀️🎉 We’re excited to announce the completion of the North Shore Trail Reconstruction Project! The trail is now smoother and safer for all, with fresh pavement, improved crossings, and new signage.

This $3.2 Million investment included two miles of rebuilt trail with 42,000 square feet of new pavement, 125 new safety features, and realignment of several critical trail sections.

The project also included the installation of a significant retaining wall near the historic fish hatchery to help level this section of trail and make it easier for our crews to remove snow in the winter.

The Tahoe City Public Utility District extends its sincere thanks to Placer County and the North Tahoe Community Alliance for funding this project as part of the TOT-TBID program.

Be Water Wise and Winterize

Protect Your Home from Freezing Pipes

Winter is coming! Be proactive to prevent costly pipe bursts. Here are some simple steps:

Drain Your Pipes: Use a stop and waste drain valve to drain pipes each time you leave home for more than 2-3 days if freezing temperatures are expected.

Keep Pipes Warm: Insulate exposed pipes, especially outside your home, under sinks, in crawl spaces, and in the attic.

Water Heater: Keep the water heater on a safe setting, especially if located in the garage. Don't turn it off or too low if you leave for an extended time.

Locate Shut-Off Valve: Stake and mark your water shut-off box; stakes are available at TCPUD.

For questions, contact the TCPUD Utilities team at 530.580.6278.
