Farmers Gain Access to Vital Weed Control Technology Through Comprehensive Closed-loop System

U.S. farmers will have access to Enlist E3™ soybeans for 2018 planting through an agreement between Dow AgroSciences and ADM. The companies today announced a collaboration that features a comprehensive closed-loop system designed to provide growers access to Enlist E3 soybeans and deliver the soybeans and their resulting products to customers for use within North America. 

The Dow AgroSciences program requires participating farmers to adhere to a comprehensive, robust set of protocols designed to ensure the soybeans reach specific ADM facilities, which will process them for use in North American markets only. Farmers will deliver their Enlist E3™ soybean crop to 1 of 4 ADM plants designated for this program:
  • Mankato, Minnesota
  • Frankfort, Indiana
  • Mexico, Missouri
  • Deerfield, Missouri

Iowa Ag Department Adds Emergency Management Position

This year, the Iowa Legislature promised to help prevent livestock disease by giving the Iowa Department of Agriculture (IDALS) additional dollars. With part of that funding, IDALS has created a new position to help better support the livestock industry.

Dr. Judith LaBounty started just over a week ago as the Emergency Management Veterinarian. The position is to support preparations for a foreign animal disease outbreak like the avian influenza outbreak in 2015.

She will oversee emergency response plans, organize efforts and exercises with industry partners, and work in the field as a district veterinarian. Read More
