August 2021
This summer, the majority of our annual events and activities have returned – and that includes the Bristol Renaissance Faire with its giant turkey legs and the Kenosha County Fair with its Centennial Celebration. We hope you join us in Kenosha to make more memories this month.
100 WAYS TO ENJOY THE FAIR
The Kenosha County Fair takes place August 18-22. The 2021 Centennial Celebration of the Kenosha County Fair will include new contests, fireworks, special exhibits, and the return of the Fair Parade. Postponed from 2020, the Centennial Celebration commemorates the 100th anniversary of the first fair, which was held in 1920. We have put together THIS BLOG listing 100 ways for you to enjoy the fair. As always, watch for fun photo opportunities and submit your favorite pics to our Picture Your Kenosha Photo Contest.
NATIONAL LIGHTHOUSE DAY
Kenosha is a Wisconsin Harbor Town with two lighthouses. August 7 is National Lighthouse Day; it’s a time to reflect on the roles that lighthouses have played in the past and in the present day. Explore the Southport Light Station Museum to learn about these beacons of history and light and to climb the 1866 Southport Lighthouse. The 1906 North Pier Lighthouse is now privately owned and serves as our operational lighthouse. The lighthouses serve as the backdrop for numerous picnics, events, and photos each year.
GREAT EATS WITH A VIEW
Did you know our new website features a page that lists restaurants and breweries with outdoor seating? Pick your setting: sidewalk, garden, patio, deck, rooftop, or even county park. Some offer a view like Lake Michigan or Downtown Kenosha, while others come with activities like live music, movies, volleyball, yoga, and kickball. Shown is Apis Restaurant and its seasonal rooftop bar that comes with views of Downtown and Lake Michigan. OUTDOOR SEATING>
