DATA SECURITY UPDATE
Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida was recently notified that Blackbaud, a provider of cloud software and data management tools used widely by colleges, universities, and other nonprofit organizations, was breached in May in a ransomware attack. Blackbaud has been BGCCF’s platform for fundraising and maintaining donor information for over 25 years and has from BGCCF’s perspective been incident-free until now.

Blackbaud informs BGCCF that no donor credit card, bank account, or other statutory personally identifiable data was compromised. Blackbaud explained that while BGCCF’s backup data was involved, statutorily sensitive information is encrypted to safeguard against events such as this. We have been communicating with Blackbaud about the incident and our understanding, based on Blackbaud’s investigation and representations, is that biographical information was exposed, which may have included names, dates of birth, address/contact information, relationships, and giving history. You can learn more about the incident by visiting blackbaud.com/securityincident.

Data security is important to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. We will continue to take every reasonable action to ensure your information is and remains properly protected. If there are any new important developments related to this incident, we will notify you promptly.
Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Sarah Johnston at sjohnston@bgccf.org or 407-920-5140.
