Action Alert: Contact Your Senators to Urge Support for SBA Reauthorization Legislation
WIPP has been working closely with the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship to make necessary changes to programs benefiting entrepreneurs through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The Committee was scheduled to vote on a bill (Chairman's draft) combining many important changes on July 24.
Unfortunately, the Committee postponed action after failing to agree on proposed regulatory changes contained in the draft legislation. Now, Congress is in recess from August 5 to September 6.  The Chairman's draft contains 15 changes that, if passed, will be game-changers for small and mid-size businesses, and especially women business owners .
Now is the time to contact your Senators and ask them to express support for moving forward the SBA Reauthorization legislation!

Your legislators will be at home in their districts and states from August 5 to September 6 to meet with constituents, like you, to share updates on their efforts in Washington, D.C. They are eager to understand how these efforts are impacting you. Take advantage of this opportunity to engage with your Members of Congress--and other business owners!
SBA Adjusts Size Standards to Expand Lending & Contracting Opportunities
WASHINGTON – The  U.S. Small Business Administration  recently issued an interim final rule that will adjust monetary-based small business size standards for inflation to allow more small businesses to become eligible for the SBA's loan and contracting programs. The  interim final rule  was published in the Federal Register on July 18, 2019.

The SBA is adjusting its industry-specific monetary-based size standards by nearly 8.4% to reflect the inflation that has occurred since the last adjustment for inflation in 2014. This time, the SBA is also adjusting the revenues-based size standards for agricultural industries, which were previously set by statute. These adjusted size standards will become effective on Aug. 19, 2019 and will be reviewed again as part of the second five-year review of size standards mandated by the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010.

Additionally, the SBA is adjusting program-specific monetary-based size standards by the same amount for sales or leases of government property and stockpile purchases. The SBA is not adjusting the tangible net worth and net income based interim alternative size standards that apply to the SBA-guaranteed 7(a) and 504 Certified Development Company loan programs, which were established under the Small Business Jobs Act.
