ICAT
Hello, friends of transit,

As you're likely well-aware, there has been a flurry of activity at the Statehouse over the past few days, as transit opponents try to derail progress and deny the overwhelming will of voters for better transit in Marion County. Senators Freeman and Young have successfully attached amendments to HB 1279 that will effectively kill IndyGo's Blue and Purple Lines. You can read more about it here and here .

Below is today's urgent call to action. Please consider making the calls and share this information with others who will do the same. We need to generate as many calls as possible yet today. Keep an eye on Transit Drives Indy and @Transit4Indy for updates. Let us know of any questions. Thank you!

  • Call Speaker Bosma & Speaker-elect Huston (317-232-9677)

  • Secondarily to call Governor Holcomb asking him to weigh in: 317-232-4567

  • Let your own state legislators know what you think.

Here's a sample call script:

Hello, my name is ______, and I'm calling to leave an important message for (Speaker Bosma OR Speaker-Elect Huston). I'm asking that the amendment language added to House Bill 1279 concerning funding for IndyGo be stripped out and killed.

In 2016, Indy voters showed overwhelming support for the transit referendum to dedicate funding to expanding and enhancing Indy’s bus rapid transit. These improvements to Indy’s transit system will be crucial for improved connectivity, travel times, and a boon to economic growth. This amendment threatens to halt all this progress and overturn the will of Marion County Voters.

We ask for your support of the broadly supported public transit expansion in Indianapolis.
