Long-Term Recovery Support Groups

In partnership with NAMI Hernando and community recovery partners, Long-Term Recovery Support Groups continue to provide a safe and supportive space for residents navigating the emotional impacts of disaster recovery and life challenges. Meetings are available in person on both the east and west sides of Hernando County as well as online, ensuring support remains accessible to those who need it most.

Hurricane Disaster Relief Support Groups: East Side

• 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

• 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of each month from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Summer BreakSpot Free Meals for Kids

School may be out, but nutritious meals are still available. Through the Summer BreakSpot program, children and teens 18 and under can receive free meals at participating locations throughout the summer. This valuable initiative helps ensure local youth have access to healthy food while school is not in session.

Back-to-School Bash

Families are invited to kick off the new school year at the annual Back-to-School Bash. This free community event will feature school supplies, community resources, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to connect with local organizations dedicated to helping students succeed. Mark your calendars and join us for a fun-filled day of preparation and celebration before the first day of school.

Student Mental Health Resource Fair

Hosted by Hernando County Government, this community event will connect students, parents, and caregivers with valuable mental health resources, support services, and educational information. I just had to reach out to share how special receiving your book has been for our family! My one-year-old son, Ezra Jackson, received "Ice Cream Face," and the coincidences are unbelievable. Ezra just discovered his love for ice cream he's absolutely obsessed. We recently returned from a cruise where unlimited ice cream became his daily highlight.

Not only does the little boy in the book remind us of Ezra, but we also noticed the author's name is Ezra Jack so close to Ezra Jackson! It's as if the book was made just for him. His older sisters, ages 6 and 13, join in the fun we all sing "Ice cream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!"

Senior Wellness Directory

211-Hernando's goal is to have a community that is connected and informed regarding health, mental health, crisis response and human service information.

This is a wonderful resource to place in the hands of our residents. Those who do not have access to the internet or simply aren't aware of the available options here in Hernando will really benefit from these booklets.

SingleCare

Did you know United Way of Hernando County and the SingleCare, formerly Familywize, Community Service Partnership have teamed up to make prescriptions more affordable for those without insurance or even those who have insurance that doesn't cover their medicine.

• What community issues are you most passionate about improving in Hernando County?

"It's difficult to choose just one area because every need matters. I'm passionate about helping wherever I can and supporting the people who need it most. Whether it's mental health, homelessness, early childhood literacy, senior services, or increasing access to community resources, each plays an important role in building a stronger Hernando County. If I can make even a small difference in each of these areas, then I know I'm helping move our community forward."
