EXPLORING CAREERS & EDUCATION LOCALLY
Another round of educational tours in the books! Students from Ogallala and Paxton high schools were able to experience the occupations of several Paxton professionals this fall.

The sixth tour of EXCEL traveled to Paxton for the first time! Students were able to tour the Paxton school, getting into both high school and elementary classrooms to talk with teachers about their career, education path, and experiences. The school also provided insight into several other staff fields including administration, custodial, culinary, technology, and transportation.

The Paxton Volunteer Fire Department also provided valuable information regarding training, experiences and the value of first responders then provided tours of the station and trucks then hands on CPR training!

The tour also stopped at the Hardin Agency where students were provided information on both insurance sales and types and owning and operating a business. Justin shared his education background with the students and the path he took to get to where he is now.

Finally, Mid-Plains Community College partnered with Civic Nebraska to provide a presentation on civic duty. Students were able to work in groups to brainstorm ways that they can be and ways that they are civically involved in their communities. The presentation covered community engagement, civic health, political involvement, and others.
