Take Advantage of TRB and NCHRP!

Last year the Transportation Research Board (TRB) had 186 registrations of Vermont AOT attendees for 68 different webinars. As a Vermont Agency of Transportation employee, you have access to ALL TRB webinars for free! All you need to do is select "Vermont Agency of Transportation" as your organization in your MyTRB account and register for any webinars that interest you. Even if you cannot attend the webinar in real time, as a registered attendee you will receive links to the webinar's presentation slides and recording. You can also access slides and recordings of past webinars. Log in to your TRB Account and click the Webinar tab for upcoming webinars. TRB also maintains the TRID database and provides Snap Searches (mostly TRB/NCHRP resources) on myriad technical topics.

An even bigger resource for us are the publications and activities of the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP). Twenty percent of the Vermont Research budget goes to NCHRP each year, so we want staff to use NCHRP products and contribute to them. Each year, potential NCHRP research project ideas are submitted by November 1 and all State DOTs vote and comment on potential projects by March. We want AOT staff to help select projects that will benefit Vermont. State DOTs and others staff panels for each selected project starting in June. Currently six staff are serving on NCHRP Project Panels which help guide the research to be useful in Vermont.
