Engage employees in decision making especially about things that impact their work. They are the closest to the job they do so let them have ownership over the work that they do and input into decisions that impact their work.

Communicate to them often. Employees want to know what is going on with their performance and the state of the business. You can never communicate too much whether it is in 1-1 meetings, team meetings or email.
