PREPARING FOR WORSHIP

Vicar Sharai's Message

In the Gospel reading this week, Jesus encourages us to wait for the Son of Man with readiness. What does it mean to wait with readiness? The example of a servant waiting to answer the door when their master arrives gives the impression that readiness is about staying alert, but what if there’s more to waiting?

God, You dwell with us at all times and in all places. Reveal to us the ways that we can live with readiness, and teach us how to be prepared for Your Holy Spirit to work in, with, and through us. In Jesus' name, Amen.

THANK YOU

Dear Geneva Lutheran Congregation,

It has truly been a delight to have shared in supportive ministry with you over this past year. Your generosity abounds in so many ways—especially in sharing with other ministry groups in our community. It has been my privilege to work with you at St. Andrew’s Food Distribution every Friday (which I will continue to do) and also to share in partnership with Tri-City Family counseling.

Thank you for your blessings and prayers, as I head to a hopefully short interim at Faith Lutheran in Glen Ellyn.

And THANK YOU for your generous gift of a VISA card.

Prayerfully, I will be back to worship and study with you soon. Pastor Wende

Thank you for your continued commitment and dedication to CAP—we could not do what we do without groups like yours. We are so grateful for your work this week helping the Burden's get one step closer to being in their home. Your service was a gift to them and your presence was a gift to us at Foley. Looking forward to seeing y'all again soon!

NEW Hours for St. Andrew Food Packing

Every Friday, 9 am-12 pm—starting August 5

The hours GLC serves at St. Andrew are changing! A bigger truck is available at this time, which reduces trips to Northern Illinois Food Bank and allows us to get more free food in larger quantities. Starting this Friday, you are invited to come work from 9 am until Noon. We serve EVERY Friday. If you have even an hour or two, you are most welcome! We do have a lot of fun, even though we work hard!
