Where are they now?
The 2021 12 Days of Development will kick off tomorrow with a spotlight on active development in our area. Anyone excited to see who'll be featured? As you know, we share the latest and greatest development stories throughout this series. As a bonus #TakeMeBackTuesday, here's a quick look at how a few of last year's featured projects turned out.
 
FIRELANDS SANDUSKY HEALTHCARE CENTER | Firelands Health broke ground for this impressive facility in July 2020. The 45,000 square foot, two-story building, houses doctors dealing with family medicine, internal medicine, and medical care for children. The brand new facility also offers on site imaging and laboratory services. Providers started seeing patients at the new location on November 1st of this year.

STRIDE MOBILITY | Stride Mobility LLC, a durable medical equipment company, and Safe Harbor Insurance, officially opened doors to their new freestanding facility located at 2455 Sawmill Parkway on August 27, 2021. This $2.1 million investment allowed Stride, whose focus is complex rehab technology, to greatly expand the company with a 4,000 square foot retail showroom. The companies went from 1,400 square feet to 14,000 square feet and added 5 new employees to their staff since the beginning of the project.

LEWCO, INC | In 2021, LEWCO, Inc. expanded into the Lake Erie Business Park in Port Clinton, Ohio. They've invested over $20 million in the newly renovated manufacturing facility to build conveyor equipment for the E-Commerce industry and have created over 160 additional jobs in our region. The LEWCO product manufactured at this facility will be sold under their new brand, Logistiq. They will continue manufacturing core products such as industrial ovens and conveyor equipment for a variety of other industries at their headquarters in Sandusky, Ohio.


DERRICK'S DINER | Newly located at 3124 Venice Road, Sandusky, Derrick’s Diner had their Grand Opening on October 8, 2021. Derrick offers the same great BBQ served at his former Warren St. location, now with takeout and curbside pickup. He plans to serve not only his many loyal customers at this new location but also hopes to feed the businesses on the West side of town with his mouthwatering BBQ and savory sides. Derrick’s Diner was one of several local businesses that received a grant through Sandusky’s economic development grant program in 2021.

MUCCI FARMS | After completing Phase 2, Mucci Farms announced plans to begin their third phase in Huron in 2020. They are proud to announce that this third and final phase of their 75-acre greenhouse and warehouse is complete and officially in operation. The entire facility is now equivalent to nearly 60 football fields! Harvesting for the winter season is now underway from all three phases, and the new phase includes multiple snacking tomato varieties.
