As we move more fully into the holiday season, just a few suggestions: please continue to shop locally at our small businesses. While we understand that you may not be able to find everything that you have on your gift-giving list, what you can buy locally, please do. By spending more of your money where you live, you strengthen the financial base of our communities. To our businesses, we suggest that you continue to create a welcoming shopping experience for your customers. One of our strengths is our down-home friendliness. To visitors, it is appreciated and remembered. Recently we had a couple come into the Chamber office for a map of the area. They commented on how friendly everyone they encounter was to them. That’s the kind of reputation we want to foster.
Thursday morning, I had the opportunity to participate in a United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley breakfast at Quinet’s. Jessica Rine, UW Executive Director gave an overview of all the wonderful things that United Way is providing to our communities and the many needs that are being filled by this amazing organization. Listed are the current member agencies for our area:
· American Red Cross
· CASA for Children, Inc.
· Gabriel Project
· Girl Scouts
· 211 Information Helpline**
· Salvation Army—Marshall, Wetzel and Tyler Counties
· Seeing Hand Association
· Sexual Assault Help Center
· Wheeling Health Right
· YMCA and YWCA
· Youth Services System
**Note** The Information Helpline is an information and referral program that connects clients with support and services. The Chamber has 211 information helpline cards that list the various services provided. If you’d like to offer these helpful cards at your location, email us and we’ll get them to you. director@wetzeltylerchamber.org or brian@wetzeltylerchamber.org
