We know that the lack of adequate, accessible and affordable transportation is a significant barrier for people with disabilities in Maine. It affects where we live, where we work, our ability to access needed healthcare, and so much more! That's why Disability Rights Maine wants you to be aware of the Maine Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Long-Range Transportation Plan, and encourages everyone to provide input into the Maine's Statewide Active Transportation and Statewide Strategic Transit Plans. With these plans, MDOT hopes to answer the following questions:
- Where are we now?
- Where do we want to go?
- How do we get there?
In addition to the surveys, there is also an opportunity to attend an On Demand Public Meeting about the development of these plans. If you would like to preregister for the live event, scheduled to take place via Zoom on Wednesday, May 4th at 6pm, click here.
Your participation in these surveys is one way to share your voice as Maine works to improve its transportation system, which will increase access to services and expand opportunities for people with disabilities.
