Despite icy conditions, avid volunteers showed up on January 18 for the MLK Day of Service. They collected 15 bags of trash and litter from the park and roadside. Yvette Bird of YMByrd Art was on site to photograph the event. Thank you Yvette and all the volunteers! | |

FEB 15 | Learn from a local expert about the history of Chesapeake Bay oyster fishermen and the future of American aquaculture. Join Imani Black, founder of Minorities in Aquaculture, to learn about the rich history of Chesapeake Bay aquaculture, what it looks like today and could look like in the future. The presenter will also cover sustainability and aquaculture as a career path for minority students. Central Library, 3:00-4:00 pm. Free. First-come, first seating. Registration Recommended.
FEB 22 | Arlington's 31st annual Feel the Heritage Festival will be held on Sat., Feb. 22, 2025 from noon-5 pm at Charles Drew Community Center. Meet EcoAction Arlington there to learn about the Arlington’s historically African-American neighborhoods while enjoying live entertainment, delicious food and dozens of vendors.
MAR 29 | FOUA’s Plot Against Hunger 2025 Spring Garden Kickoff will be held on March 29, 10 am at Marymount University, 1000 N Glebe Rd. Get ready for interesting speakers, thoughtful breakout sessions, workshops, seed and seedling giveaways, partner organization representatives, and lots of great garden chats! This event is free, registration is required.
