Dear Take Stock in Children Palm Beach County Family,

Welcome to the June edition of the Take Stock Tribune! As June comes to a close, we're reflecting on a month filled with gratitude, growth, and fresh beginnings. This week, we said farewell to our incredible AmeriCorps team whose dedication and heart made a lasting impact on our students and staff. We wrapped up the year with a meaningful celebration alongside our full team, taking a moment to honor the progress we’ve made and the people who helped make it possible.

Now, we’re turning our attention to the road ahead. Summer is a critical time for preparing our students for the upcoming school year — from class scheduling to college readiness and everything in between. We’re especially excited for our 17th Annual Target Back to School Shopping events, taking place on August 1st and 4th. With two event dates this year, we’re looking forward to reaching even more students and helping them start the school year with confidence and the supplies they need to thrive. Thank you for continuing to stand with us and support our mission.

Thank you for being an essential part of the Take Stock Palm Beach family. Stay tuned for more updates by following our emails, newsletter and social media pages. Wishing you all a great month.

Warmly,

The Take Stock Palm Beach Team

PROGRAM NEWS

Senior Summit

As we closed out the academic year, Take Stock Palm Beach and Johnson Scholars proudly hosted the annual Senior Summit—a culminating event designed to help our graduating seniors confidently transition into their next chapter.

This year’s Summit was held at Florida Atlantic University and Palm Beach State College – Lake Worth Campus, welcoming 101 seniors from across the county. They were provided breakfast and lunch throughout the workshops and campus tours.

Students had the opportunity to: activate their Florida Prepaid Scholarships.

This allowed them to also register for or confirm their college class schedules, receive guidance on accessing on-campus and community-based resources, and engage with representatives and student support services from their future institutions.

We are especially excited to share that 109 students attended the summit between both locations. The energy and excitement were tangible as students took tangible steps toward their futures.

We are immensely proud of the Class of 2025 and look forward to all they will accomplish in the years to come.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

As a proud Alumni of Take Stock Palm Beach, Victoria recently stopped by our office to say hello and share updates on her journey — a full-circle moment that reminded us just how powerful our program can be. We are incredibly proud to feature her as this month’s Alumni Spotlight, and we know she will continue to make a lasting impact in the medical field and beyond.

Victoria Estevez is a third-year medical student at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) in Bradenton. She is preparing to begin her clinical rotations this month after spending the past two years immersed in rigorous classroom instruction focused on medicine and science.

During her pre-clinical years, Victoria served as a Student Ambassador for LECOM Bradenton, President of the Student Government Association, and as a member of the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP).

Through these roles, she attended national conferences, engaged in leadership seminars, and gathered important insights on developments within the osteopathic medical community.

We are incredibly proud to see her thriving in the medical field and know she will continue to make a meaningful impact in every step of her journey.

MENTOR NEWS

Welcome, Heather!

We’re thrilled to welcome Heather Bennett as our new Mentor Coordinator at Take Stock Palm Beach! Heather brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit development, marketing, and relationship-building. She’s passionate about creating meaningful connections and increasing engagement, and she’s eager to support both our mentors and students while helping to grow the impact of our program.

Outside of work, Heather enjoys spending time in nature—whether she’s hiking or relaxing at the beach with her children and dog.

As we plan for the upcoming school year, we ask that all mentors complete the short survey about your intentions for next year if you haven’t already done so: Mentor Survey Link.

We recently had several new students enter our program who are in need of a mentor. If you know someone who might be interested in making a difference, please share our website and mentor application with them: www.takestockpalmbeach.org.

If you're connected with any organizations or companies that might be open to learning about the incredible impact of mentoring, please reach out to Elissa at esorel@takestockpalmbeach.org.

Thank you for being a vital part of our mentoring community!

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

17th Annual Target Back to School Shopping

We’re excited to announce our 17th Annual Back to School Shopping events at Target, happening this August—and you’re invited to be part of the impact!

📍 Thursday, August 1st – Boynton Beach Target

📍 Sunday, August 4th – Palm Beach Lakes Target

Each year, Take Stock in Children Palm Beach County takes students shopping for school clothes, supplies, and essentials—helping them walk into the new year with confidence, dignity, and excitement. This year, we’re aiming to support more than 100 students, and we need your help.

You can sponsor a student with a $200 Target gift card donation, a gift that goes directly into the hands of a student preparing for success.

Your generosity makes a real difference for families who are working hard to make ends meet. For many of our students, this is the only time they get to pick out brand-new clothes and supplies, and the pride they carry with them on the first day of school is immeasurable.

Donate today and help a student start strong!

Dream Investors

This month, we are celebrating our partnership with the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. This past year, thanks to their generous support, we were able to expand our reach into ten additional low-performing schools, providing even more underserved students with the support and opportunities they need to set them on a path of success.

With their support, we have not only achieved our goal of growing our program but have also made a significant impact on the lives of countless students. Each now has a caring mentor, a college-readiness coach, and a guaranteed 2-year college scholarship, paving the way for a brighter future not only for themselves and their families but also for the entire community.

Thank you, Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, for believing in our mission and investing in our youth. Together, we’re not just preparing students for college—we’re helping them unlock their potential and dreams.

WAYS TO SUPPORT

We appreciate your time and interest in our organization. Take Stock in Children's program model is rated “best in class” by the Florida Legislature, with 98% of our students graduating high school and 74% obtaining a post-secondary credential (compared to only 27% of their peer group). For low-income and minority students, education is the key to success and upward mobility. Take Stock in Children is the single-largest nonprofit purchaser of Florida Prepaid College Foundation Scholarships, with assets totaling more than $250M and over $20M awarded to Palm Beach County students. Our scholarship plans are purchased at half-price and matched $ for $ through our partnership with the Florida Prepaid Foundation, enabling us to serve twice as many students.

Join us, "take stock in a child today," and help us ensure that all students, no matter their background, have equitable access to quality education.
