This is a saying from one of my favorite greeting cards, an adaptation of a quotation from Dutch philosopher Desiderius Erasmus. I do believe we can each do our part in our everyday lives to create and enhance a vibration of peace and love on this our beautiful, precious planet. Each one of us can make a difference in small and large ways every day.
May we all be mindful of how powerful we truly are and direct our attention and energies into positive avenues which uplift ourselves and one another in 2021. We need everybody working together and supporting one another, especially during challenging times.

16 Years at the Frankfurt Book Fair

This year's first ever Frankfurt Book Fair Digital was surprisingly great! Needing to adapt the scheduled October 14-18 fair to the realities of COVID, the organizers decided only in the second week of September to totally cancel all in-person events and go completely online.
Up to the last minute no one really knew what to expect. With a large grant from the German Cultural Ministry, the organizers were busy at work developing the book fair site and did not open the digital portal for rights sellers like HBG till October 4th. We all hustled to go live in just a week's time! I was impressed with how it all came together in the end, it was very exciting to be a part of it, with the fair ultimately boasting 200,000 digital attendees. Read more.
The online fair week was impressive, stimulating, very full and rewarding as I met with publishing colleagues from around the world via Zoom at all hours of the day or night. I attended educational and informative conferences and sessions I usually miss as I am holding meetings at the HBG stand and accumulated interest and orders for review copies for HBG clients. In general everyone celebrated a less hectic book fair, most folks I spoke with spreading meetings out over some weeks. HBG continues to meet digitally with willing editors, agents and publishers, presenting our titles.

This month HBG closed the deal for a French translation of The Introvert's Edge by Matthew Pollard, now available in 9 languages and soon in French. With already more than 35,000 copies of his book sold, Matthew continues to expand his global marketing presence in support of naturally introverted sales entrepreneurs.
First Translation Sold
