Take Your Safety Career to the Next Level -
Earn a Certified Safety & Health Official Certificate
|
|
The OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District offers five Professional Safety Certificates to help you take your career and your organization’s safety program to the next level. These programs provide real-world information that can be immediately applied to the workplace, giving you knowledge in many safety and health subjects and allowing you to build upon your safety expertise.

The Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) Certificate program provides a clear and defined path for existing safety professionals to achieve their career goals by earning a professional certificate with a concentration in either Construction or General Industry safety. The program has a stronger emphasis on safety and health regulations, including liability, training requirements, loss control, program development and implementation.

Earning a Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) Certificate can help you:
- Gain authorization to teach the OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour Outreach programs
- Achieve a high level of understanding of OSHA standards, policies and procedures
- Learn to develop safety and health programs, including job hazard analysis (JHAs)
- Understand and evaluate the economic impact of implementing and maintaining safety programs
- Create a workplace safety culture that includes commitment, communication and training as a crucial investment
- Gain the knowledge and skills needed to conduct accident/incident investigations
Consider participating in the CHSO Certificate Program if you are:
- A safety professional wanting to advance into high-level health and safety positions
- A safety professional with at least five (5) years’ experience in the field who wishes to increase your knowledge and skills in workplace safety
CHSO Certificate holders may qualify for positions such as Safety Manager, Senior Safety Technician, Safety Engineer and Loss Control, among others. Learn More

OSHA Reminds Employers to Keep Seasonal and Full Time Workers Safe
|
With the National Retail Federation expecting retailers to hire over 500,000 seasonal workers and employers hopeful for a busy holiday season, OSHA is reminding them not to overlook their worker’s rights to a safe and healthy workplace.
Let’s keep all workers and customers safe this holiday season and throughout the year!

Safety is just as important once a truck reaches a destination as when it is on the open road. Companies should communicate operating procedures to keep workers safe, whether at the warehouse, dock, or construction site. Drivers should know about hazards that can result in serious or fatal injuries.
|
Many young workers are also temporary workers. Employers must treat them as they treat regular full time workers, including offering adequate safety training. Learn More

In-Person Classes: Physical distancing and other safety guidelines are followed in all In-Person classes, and class sizes are reduced.
|
|
In Region IX OSHA numbered Virtual, Instructor-Led classes offered via Zoom are only available to participants located in California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands. Contact us if you are unsure if this applies to you.
