Before or after your hike (maybe even both) grab a coffee to support the MST!
Grab a cup of MST Summer Blend coffee to celebrate the MST at Joe Van Gogh and Green Bean in Greensboro and Durham! On Saturday, Sept 8th all of their locations will be donating 5% of proceeds from sales that day to support Friends of the Mountains-To-Sea Trail. If you can't make it to a JVG coffeeshop, you can still order a pound of MST blend coffee on their website. It's delicious, and won't be around much longer. Thanks to Hillsborough-based Joe Van Gogh for supporting the MST!
Protect Yourselves from Ticks with Insect Shield, while Raising Funds for the Trail
Buying clothes treated with insect repellent can drive away bugs and attract funds for Friends of the MST thanks to Greensboro-based Insect Shield. The company will donate 10% of the value of any online purchases of its products by Friends of the MST members, or their friends.
Wearing clothing treated with permethrin provides protection against mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges through 70 launderings, according to the company's webpage.
"The battle against bugs can be ongoing for day and long-distance MST hikers and our trail workers," said Kate Dixon, Friends of the MST's executive director. "That makes Insect Shield such a good fit."
Insect Shield is offering two opportunities for Friends to use their products - purchase apparel already treated or send in their own apparel to be treated. Insect Shield will donate 10% of sales generated from either option to support Friends' work.

To treat your own clothes, use the MST store here. On the login page the username is mountains and password is sea.
Support the MST through Workplace Giving Campaigns
The 2018 State and Federal Employees Combined Campaigns just kicked off. These two campaigns allow NC and federal employees to support nonprofits through payroll deductions. Friends of the MST is a giving option in both campaigns. Our state code is 1102 and our federal code is 30392.
Several local governments and companies (including all who host United Way of the Triangle campaigns) also include Friends of the MST as a giving option.
Members who give through workplace giving donate more than $10,000 per year to support the MST.
Volunteers are the heart of Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. We need people with a wide variety of skills and interests to build and care for this beautiful trail.
