Day of Learning with Brian McLaren
Brian D. McLaren, author of We Make the Road By Walking, is a speaker, activist, and public theologian. He's a passionate advocate for “a new kind of Christianity” – just, generous, and working with people of all faiths for the common good. Brian will be joining the East District Day of Learning via livestream for the keynote address and a Q&R Workshop on Saturday, February 16 at First UMC, Mesa.
Pastor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

The story of our church is a story of God’s love in action. This Sunday, as we begin our annual giving campaign, we’ll be looking through the lens of God’s faithfulness as we have repeatedly experienced it in our congregation. We look with gratitude to our past and founding, our present ministries that touch and transform lives, our future and God’s vision for our church that inspires our hope and forward reach to do all that God asks of us. Some faithful Methodist pioneers started organizing our church back in 1960. Today, in 2019, we still need that forward-looking and hopeful spirit to move us into God’s future.

 Submit prayer requests using our online request form, email prayer@pvumc.org or call the church office at 602.840.8360. Your request will be shared with our 200+ list of prayer warriors on email. If you haven't been receiving prayers, and are already on the prayer team list, please make sure you add " prayer@pvumc.org" and our new prayer chain coordinator's email, " ddoran@pvumc.org" to your safe sender and recipient lists. Support PVUMC Preschool's Book Fair -- Buy Books Online
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church Preschool hosts an online book fair with Scholastic Books January 23-February 5, 2019 . The PVUMC Preschool Board encourages church members to shop online this year instead of browsing through books after worship on Sunday. Go online to see the interactive book flyer and purchase books for individual students or for the Preschool classrooms. Did you know that PVUMC has a children's section in the church library too? Stop by with your child and borrow a book or two to read at home. Read More
Trotters Wake Community Concert
Mark your calendar to join us for the first PVUMC Community Concert of the new year: Trotters Wake! This seven-piece acoustic Irish band breathes new life into traditional Irish music with their unique blend of vocals and lively mix of new and old Irish songs. Instrumentation includes guitar/mandolin, electric or upright bass, fiddle, banjo, keyboard, bodhran (Irish hand drum), and vocals. From rebel songs to ballads to traditional instrumental tunes and even a few pub tunes, Trotters Wake offers a new look at Celtic music.

As with all the community concerts at the church, there are no tickets or fees. Registration is FREE on Eventbrite. Donations are gratefully accepted at the event on Friday, February 1, 2019.

Journeys, small groups at pvumc , launched its winter/spring semester last week. If you still need a hard copy of the Journeys guidebook, stop by the church office during the week or pick up one on Sunday. Or, go digital by downloading your copy below. Church Hosts Trifaith Discussion THIS Thursday
People of all faiths are invited to Salaam-Chai-Paradise’s discussion series hosted at a different venue each week on Thursday evenings at 7 pm. Join us this week in the PVUMC Fellowship Center January 31 as we discuss our Abrahamic sibling relationships.
