Greetings!

Lindsey here! I just returned from a magical experience in Guatemala, on a yoga retreat lead by a notable yogi I admire. As always, I was charmed by the beauty of the country, but I especially appreciated the focus and growth I put into my personal practice while I was there. I don't make it to my mat as often as I'd like, and I'm beyond grateful for the time I spent with inspirational people, learning, and doing something I love. I can't wait to bring some new perspective into the studio this month!

I'm not sure where May went, but I hope it was enjoyable for you. Our summer schedule is finalized and set to start on Sunday, June 9th. We appreciate your feedback via our polls and hope you can join us this month. Please note timing changes for some of your favorite classes. As always, check your zenplanner ap or our website for the most up-to-date schedule.

This month we are asking you to share your love of The Fire Within Yoga with the world. Leave us a review on Facebook , Google , or Yelp and help us build our brand and spread awareness of our community. Anyone that leaves a positive review will be entered in a drawing for some of our favorite local goods and in-studio perks.

Just Breathe: Three tips for new meditators

There are so many reasons and ways to meditate it can feel overwhelming at first, but the long-term benefits of sustained practice are worth the extra effort. Here are three reasons why you should integrate meditation into your daily routine.

You cannot do it wrong. Hold your meditation practice as time and space just for you. In moments of quiet, you are free from daily challenges and expectations. You are able to release responsibilities you identify with and allow your mind to reset. You probably meditate every day without labeling it as such. Start with a few seconds of quiet, allowing yourself a feeling of deep relaxation that connects you with your breath. Choose the time and place you feel comfortable each day and grow your practice the way that feels natural to you.

Thoughts are normal. We live busy, complicated lives, so when we sit in silence don't be surprised when your mind wanders. The art of meditation is noticing when your mind has taken a different direction, and bringing it back to your focus. It takes patient practice to develop a daily routine, but science, and any long-term mediator, will tell you its worth it.

It is for everyone. You do not have to believe a certain thing, dress a certain way, or carry a special momento to benefit from meditation. CEOs, stay at home parents, teachers, and kids alike may all benefit from the practice. View meditation as wholly yours--your mind, your body, your thoughts, your meditation.
