Prop 68, Fresno for Parks, and AB 3218
Update on funding measures to help advance the Parkway
Proposition 68
On June 5, Californians voted to approve Proposition 68, the California Clean Water and Safe Parks Act. This is good news for the San Joaquin River Parkway and the River Parkway Trust. Prop 68 includes a $6 million allocation to the San Joaquin River Conservancy for capital projects throughout the Parkway. The proposition also includes funding allocations to many other programs that the Trust and its partners may pursue for park and trail improvements throughout the region.

Fresno for Parks
We are still actively collecting signatures for the Fresno Clean and Safe Parks Initiative. If passed, this initiative will generate approximately $37.5 million per year for parks, trails, and arts in the City of Fresno. We have an incredible opportunity to do something transformative for our local parks system, but we need your help. If you are a registered voter in the City of Fresno we need your signature right away. Stop by the River Center and sign the petition today. You can also help by volunteering to collect signatures at local community events. If you are interested click here for more information.

AB 3218
Earlier this year, Assemblymember Dr. Joaquin Arrambula introduced AB3218, which will allow State Parks to operate San Joaquin River Conservancy Lands through a management agreement with the San Joaquin River Conservancy. The State Assembly passed AB3218 on a 64-0 vote on May 30. The bill will be heard by the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water on June 26.
