Tutoring & Academic Support

We encourage students seeking any assistance with classwork to utilize our class supports. Services are specialized to help in specific areas. Please read the descriptions below to find the right support for you.

The STEM Center offers academic support for all students taking Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) classes such as virtual one-on-one and group tutoring sessions.

The Student Success Center offers students one-on-one tutoring available in most subjects, a personal Student Success Coach, online tutoring, and supports for students on academic warning or academic suspension. A Student Success Coach can help you navigate the responsibilities of being a student while balancing the demands and nuances of your personal life.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a peer tutoring program in which a peer tutor (SI Leader) is assigned to work with a particular class for the semester. SI leaders are currently enrolled students who offer group and individual review sessions for students outside of class time.

TRIO Student Support Services (TRIO SSS) provides students with academic assistance and serves students who are first-generation, meet income guidelines, and/or have a documented disability, and have an academic need for support. TRIO SSS also prepares students for their transition into a career or four-year institution upon completion of their degree. Specific supports include academic counseling, peer tutoring, scholarships, financial literacy, workshops, and events.

The Writing Center provides all students free peer academic assistance with writing projects. The Writing Center supports all courses, all types of writing, and all stages of writing.

Tutoring is available for all STCC students and we offer both in-person and remote tutoring options. There is no charge for tutoring services. Begin by completing the Tutor request form.
