Activism Opportunity
Taking Back Pride:
March for #Justice4GeorgeFloyd & #DefendBlackTransFolks
Sunday, June 28 at 11am | 400 Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis
Most people are familiar with Pride Festivals full of rainbows, floats, and crazy costumes. However, the origins of the LGBTQIA rights movement are rarely discussed in mainstream society. Much like the labor movement and other struggles for liberation, a time came in the summer of 1969 when people had to resist and fight back against their oppressors.
It's the sacrifices and struggles of queer/trans BIPOC (Black, indigenous, people of color) - like Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson, who led an uprising to fight back against police violence at the Stonewall Uprising which kicked off the mass movement for queer/trans liberation in the U.S. - that we celebrate!
So this year, we march for justice yet again.

Finding Hope: Between Here and There
A Sermon Series on Loss and Transformation
June 14 through July 5
Global pandemic and local racial injustice have left many of us feeling isolated, fearful, angry, and hopeless. In this series, we will gather to lament our losses and to bear witness to each other's experiences.
We will explore what it means to overcome hopelessness, how to have hope in the moment, how to find hope for the future, and how to share hope with our communities.
Together we'll walk the spiritual path from here to there.

Food Donations and Lake Street Small Business Support
It has been amazing to see residents support their communities with donations of food and household products. Minneapolis Public School food distribution sites have received such an outpouring of donations that
they can no longer process more.
To best support those in need, please
make financial donations to local food shelves
or non-profit organizations you trust instead of dropping off food.
The City of Minneapolis is compiling and regularly updating
this list
of resources and opportunities to help residents affected by the riots.
The Lake Street Council/Visit Lake Street are raising funds to support damaged small businesses and nonprofits. Learn more about how to help Lake Street rebuild

Sew, Deliver and Donate funds for
Health Care Workers' Masks
If you are looking for an opportunity to sew masks for front-line health care workers, go to
maskarmy4heroes.weebly.com
for information on how to sign up to obtain free kits or register to receive masks at no charge for the health care location where you work.
If you don’t sew, you can assist with deliveries and/or make donations for the purchase of special H600 fabric, which is almost as protective as the N95 masks.
The goal is to deliver 50,000 masks as soon as possible, and already over 4,000 have been donated.
If you have questions, you may contact HAUMC member Anita Nerhus (612) 202-1372. She is a cousin of Rebecca Rausch, the founder of Mask Army 4 Heroes.

United Methodist Church Dakotas-Minnesota Area
"Just Love" Special Appeal
When we’re fearful and fuming, depleted and damaged, may we respond by just loving God and neighbor. When we witness discrimination and division, callousness and cruelty, may we respond by loving justly. Just love allocates human and financial resources to assess and address crisis response, relief, recovery rebuilding, renewal, repentance and restitution, trauma therapy, and anti-racism. Just love addresses the food, Black home and business ownership, and health care deserts within our communities.
Your gifts will enable partnerships with our congregations on the frontlines to support ministries of mercy (crisis counseling, housing stability, food/medicine) and ministries of racial justice (education, advocacy, intervention). A Rapid Response Grant Team with representatives from urban core churches and Black congregational leaders will oversee special appeal allocations, and your donations will be directed to where there is the greatest need in rebuilding our neighborhoods.
If you prefer, checks can be mailed to the Minnesota Conference at 122 W. Franklin Ave., Suite 200, Minneapolis, MN 55404-2472. Please note “JUST LOVE” on the memo line.
Thank you for your generosity and stewardship of God’s mercy and justice.

Sharing the Future: Explore Legacy Giving
For generations Hennepin has nourished the faith and lives of individuals and families through prayers, worship, outreach services and social relations. Our faith community has embraced and aided members and friends in times of joy and challenge.
Legacy gifts are a part of that treasured heritage. We benefit each day at Hennepin, often more than we realize, from the generous and heartfelt estate gifts from Hennepin members. These legacy funds, in part, are helping sustain our ministries amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and will enrich the fabric of our future.
You can share in Hennepin’s future through your financial planning today. Your gift, of any size, will touch future generations in myriad ways. A bequest provision, life income gift, a beneficiary designation in a retirement or insurance plan, es examples, will leave a lasting imprint.
To explore a Legacy Gift, or inform us of an intent already in place, contact Jack Fistler, 612-435-1321, or
jack@haumc.org.
