Historical Tidbit:
Our bell was cast in 1875 by William Blake & Co. and presented to the Trustees of the Howard Fund by Otis Drury. According to the American Bell Association International, Inc., William Blake was an apprentice of Paul Revere. Later, W. Blake & Company was located at Allen Street in Boston, Massachusetts, and was in operation from 1820 to 1890. At that time, he operated under the names of W. Blake & Co. and Blake Bell Co. The largest bell he made weighed 3,000 pounds. What a gem of a school bell we have!

Rooted, Revived,Reinvented: Basketry in America
The exhibit will be at the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton from May 18th-August 11th .
The Rooted,Revived,Reinvented is a traveling exhibition organized by the National Basketry Organization in partnership with the University of Missouri to visually chronicle the history of American basketry— from its origins in Native American, immigrant, and slave communities, to its presence within the contemporary fine art world. Divided into five sections—Cultural Origins, New Basketry, Living Traditions, Basket as Vessel, and Beyond the Basket—the baskets in this exhibition convey meaning and interpret American life through the artists’ choices of materials; the techniques and forms they select; and the colors, designs, patterns, and textures they employ.
Join us, Saturday, May 18, 4:00 – 7:00 pm, for the Rooted, Revived, Reinvented: Basketry in America reception. Space is limited. Click here to register for the reception today!
