SHINNING THE SPOTLIGHT ON DOWNTOWN INDIO AND ITS CAST
The City of Indio is making remarkable strides in stepping into the spotlight through a range of community enhancements. The city takes immense pride in its 300+ dedicated public servants who tirelessly work towards enriching the community and ensuring the well-being of its residents on a daily basis.
One of the most notable endeavors is the Downtown Renaissance, which is being fueled with over $200 million in public and private investments. This transformative initiative encompasses a diverse array of developments, including two new buildings at the College of the Desert's Indio Campus, as well as new restaurants, taproom/pubs, and various retail businesses. Among the exciting additions is the "Outdoor Living Room" stage, a new library, a new city hall, new apartments, upgraded utilities and roadways, and an abundance of additional shade trees.
The City of Indio remains firmly committed to ongoing improvements in various sectors. Efforts are focused on enhancing community parks, ballfields, golf courses, landscape medians, roadways, and art installations. Notably, funding has been secured for the new Monroe St. bridge and interchange at I-10, and the public safety campus is nearing completion. Moreover, the city is launching a community beautification program titled "Indio Lindo," alongside other innovative initiatives.

LOCAL MUSIC SHOWCASE TAKES OVER JULY'S SECOND SATURDAYS!
Get ready to be blown away as talented local musicians steal the spotlight at Second Saturdays on July 8th at Downtown Indio! The exciting lineup will take center stage at Miles Avenue and Smurr Street.
Lineup:
- Koka: 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
- TownTroublez: 7:45 p.m. - 8:15 p.m.
- Las Tias: 8:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
- Desert Crows: 9:15 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Second Saturdays are FREE; remember to bring some cash for the delectable offerings from our craft beer and local food vendors. Bring your chairs and blankets to create a cozy atmosphere. If you want to show off your Indio spirit, Indio-branded lawn chairs will be available for purchase. Plus, there will be plenty of family-friendly activities to keep everyone entertained. With the tireless support of the community, Avenida Music is entering an exciting new chapter by establishing its very own venue, the Little Street Music Hall and Encore Coffee Shop! This unique establishment will function as a charming coffee shop during the daytime and then transition into a lively taproom at night., featuring live music. Little Street Music Hall will open its doors this summer in the heart of Downtown Indio!

The Academy of Musical Performance (AMP) is a dynamic music education program that seeks to enrich the youth by encouraging productivity, creativity, communication, and countless valuable skills.
Dedicated to nurturing young musicians, this non-profit organization in the heart of Downtown Indio offers a range of innovative music programs for students aged 8-18. These transformative programs allow students to learn how to play in a band and gradually prepare them for captivating performances. AMP is also acclaimed for programs like AMP Summer Camp, PreAMP, Instrument Zoo, and more! The Academy of Musical Performance (AMP) has several locations in the Coachella Valley. INTRODUCING COMMUNITY GRANTS AND SPONSORSHIPS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2023/2024
The Community Grants and Sponsorship Program of the City of Indio aims to assist non-profit organizations in obtaining funds. The program offers monetary assistance and sponsorships of up to $5,000 annually, with a total annual funding of $150,000.
Furthermore, there is a sum of $25,000 accessible for non-monetary contributions, such as city amenities or event venues. The Grant Program also considers funding requests for event/table sponsorships. To apply for this grant, you must complete an application process to determine if you are eligible. Please help us spread the word about this opportunity!
Nonprofit organizations and governmental entities that are eligible to apply for this grant must demonstrate how their projects and programs benefit the City of Indio and its residents in the following areas:
- Improving the quality of life or improving service delivery in Indio.
- Enhance and support the business community in Indio.
- Sustaining the City's economic development initiatives.
- Enhancing Indio's marketing efforts and regional recognition.
