Connecting hearts, minds, and hands to meet needs in our community
“They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself." Of all people, Andy Warhol said that, but he was right, and some important change is happening here. The Central Indiana Community Foundation has a new mission to reflect the fight for equality for all people in our city. Its mission now says its goal is to create a “ community where every individual has equitable opportunity to reach their full potential—no matter their place, race or identity." This is a powerful addition to what is becoming a tsunami of positive change in our city. Applause to our own community foundation for their strong step forward! Read Nancy's Blog here!

Str8Up Ministries is our Partner of the month!
Str8Up is a unique youth club, grounded in creating relationships with kids who need strong Godly people in their lives. Str8Up takes kids from their urban environment, to a local camp, into nature where they can play and commune with those who show them love and care. They are provided with alternatives to the deadly temptations of the streets as they are mentored in areas of skills training, academic tutoring and leadership development. These people do great work!  Str8Up Ministries
Burn It! That's what they were doing
at Zion Unity Baptist Church as they joined recently to burn the mortgage that was paid off on their church home. Pastor Fredrick Boyd also founded an annual expo where scientists and theologians present lectures promoting the evidence of the creation story as told in the Bible. He says, "We are not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold...but with the precious blood of Christ," Click Here!
God Covers Us...
After much bracing and strengthening, the new roof is on our little office at 241 West 38th Street. We are forging ahead, and it appears from this picture that God is shining His light on our work! Although we still await other permits, we know everything will happen in His timing and look forward with anticipation to the time when we will be using our building to meet with pastors, business people and others who can move the needle in the direction of wholeness and connectedness for our city. Drive by and see, and please send a prayer up for our permits to come through soon! Be there! August 25th for the next Un-Conference
Unite For Change initiative is again hosting the bi-annual empowerment event called the “Urban Servant Leadership Un-Conference." The gathering is a series of in-depth, knowledge sharing activities designed to educate, inspire and empower current and emerging leadership in under-resourced urban centers of Indianapolis. This will be another gathering of those who know that the power to improve issues in our urban areas lies in the strength of the people who live there. See the Calendar information below! Learn more!

Don't be left out-- So many partners are standing with us! But we need YOU! Anyone can tell you: Not much gets done without money. For UNITE INDY to get a city-wide volunteer/need website going it takes great people with computer skills who work individually with churches, businesses, charities and others, so that each has its own portal to enter the world of need in our city.
We need a place to meet--working on that! We need to publish and insert the powerful testimonies and round table discussions that give suburban Indianapolis a much more personal understanding of the issues faced by our poor and hopeless. These are just a few of our needs, but any donation is so appreciated! And thanks to those who have helped so far! UNITE INDY is a 501(c)(3) public charity. So donations can be tax deductible.
