Stepping Up to Fight Skin Cancer
Over 160 donors and fundraisers joined us this month for our Steps to Stop Cancer Summer 5k, raising $12,995 to date! Proceeds from this years' event support CARES and our ongoing immunotherapy research in melanoma at Massachusetts General Hospital. 

Melanoma is the fifth most prevalent cancer in the US, and accounts for the majority of all skin cancer deaths. Rates of melanoma have continued to rise rapidly over the past few decades - according to the National Cancer Institute, 2.3% of men and women will be diagnosed with melanoma at some point during their lifetime.

Immunotherapy has proven to be an effective treatment to fight melanoma with fewer side effects, sparing patients the harm of traditional treatments and giving them a better quality of life both during and after treatments.
