On Wednesday, January 26, members of the Delta Township Board, staff, and Bj's Wholesale representatives gathered for a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the opening of the New BJ's Wholesale Club, located on West Saginaw Hwy.

The Club officially opened to the public on Friday, January 28, and is part of the $200 million Delta Crossings development located at Saginaw Hwy and I-496. The wholesale chain has approximately 225 clubs across the country. The Delta Township location is the fourth in Michigan and the first outside the Detroit area!

On January 3, the Delta Township Board gave their official approval to rename the Township's Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Water Resource Recovery Facility.

This name change comes as part of the planning and reconstruction of the new $90 million wastewater facility that the Township is currently seeking bids for. The renaming of the facility more closely encompasses the current function treatment plant plays and helps emphasize the importance of environmental stewardship that it provides, which is managing one of the most valuable resources the world has, freshwater.

Winter property taxes are due Monday, February 14, 2022. Taxes paid after the due date are subject to 1% interest per month. Delinquent parcels paid between February 15^th and February 28^th will be assessed an additional 3% penalty. The last day to pay real property taxes at Delta Township for the 2021 tax year is Monday, February 28, 2022. On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, all unpaid real property taxes will be turned over to the Eaton County Treasurer for collection. Taxpayers are encouraged to pay by dropping a check off into our drop boxes located on the north and east sides of the Township Office. Last year, a large snowstorm occurred on the winter tax due date. Please consider submitting your payment well in advance of the day it is due, to avoid unforeseen circumstances that result in a late payment. Interest and penalty charges that are incurred for late payments cannot be waived.

Now that the snow has arrived, Delta Township property owners are reminded that they need to make arrangements to clear the snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property.  Section 34-92  of the Delta Township Code of Ordinances requires that snow and ice be removed from the sidewalk within 24 hours of a snowfall. The code applies even if the property is vacant or the building on the premises is unoccupied.

Did you know that Delta Township does not have its own municipal road department? The Eaton County Road Commission and the Michigan Department of Transportation are responsible for all road maintenance, including snow removal, within the Township.

Responsible for all roadway maintenance and snow plowing throughout Delta with the exception of Saginaw Highway (M-43), Lansing Road, and Interstates.
