A Note from the Township Supervisor
Fall De-Leafing Drop-Off 
and Snow Removal Information

Fall De-Leafing
Fall De-Leafing runs October 17 through December 5, Wednesday and Saturday
ONLY through the Delta Township Recycling Center.  

This service is
FREE to Delta Township
Residents ONLY. Driver's license and
piece of Delta Township identification
(tax bill, water/sewer bill, or voter
registration card) is required.

De-Leafing times at the Delta Township Recycling Center are: Wednesdays from 12 p.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. only

Snow Removal Reminder
Now that the snow has arrived, Delta Township property owners are reminded that they need to make arrangements to clear the snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property.   Section 34-92 of the Delta Township Code of Ordinances requires that snow and ice be removed from the sidewalk within 24 hours of a snowfall. The code applies even if the property is vacant or the building on the premises is unoccupied.

Delta Community Awards

On November 12, the Delta Township Board of Directors along with members of the community gathered to celebrate some of the Delta Township's finest resident's and businesses during the 10th Annual Delta Community Awards Reception.

This year's reception was held at the Crowne Plaza Lansing West and was emceed by Delta Township's own Kelly Rossman-McKinney, Managing Partner of the Lansing-based public relations firm Truscott Rossman. 

This year's honorees include:
  • Business of the Year - Laura Miller and Delta Flowers
  • Community Enhancement Awards:
    • Steve Kesto for the demolition and redevelopment of the property at 4037 W. Saginaw
      (ABC Liquor/Advanced Auto)
    • Developer Mike Davis, Davis Construction for the property at 6209 W. Saginaw
    • Chris Koulouras, Hacks, LLC., for the property at 8205 W. Saginaw (Dunkin Donuts/BP)
  • Community Organization of the Year - Delta Side Business Association
  • Citizen of the Year - Linda Smith
  • Young Person of the Year - Allyson Erickson
  • Legacy Award - Joe Drolett
The Township wishes to congratulate the 2015 honorees and recognize all of the fantastic nominees from this year's program.  
Eaton County Opens Satellite Office
The Eaton County Treasurer and Clerk's Offices held the grand opening of their new satellite office in the Delta Township Administration Building on Friday, November 13. 

Delegates from Eaton County, Delta Township, and the Michigan legislature were there to celebrate with a ribbon cutting.

"We are excited to host the Eaton County Clerk and Treasurer and welcome this opportunity for the residents of Delta Township," said Delta Township Supervisor Ken Fletcher. "Providing more convenient access to the county services, we believe, will have a positive impact on the citizens and the township in general."

What's New in Delta Township

Meijer Distribution Center
Located at  3405 S. Creyts Rd., Meijer is expanding their operations to include a 500,000 sq ft highly-automated warehouse facility in Delta Township. Construction has already begun at the site. 

CAT Building
Located at the corner of Canal St. and Millett Hwy., CAT is constructing a new 55,000 sq ft building that will house the company's sales and service operations for Caterpillar heavy construction equipment.

Tabooli
Tabooli Mediterranean restaurant is opening a new location at the corner of St. Joseph Highway and Waverly Rd. Construction has begun and it is expected to open in the spring of 2016.

Former Days Inn Property
The former Days Inn Property at the corner of Saginaw Hwy. and Canal St. will be demolished and redeveloped.  The Delta Township Fire Department has been granted access to use the former building for training purposes before demolition. Demolition is estimated to begin before the end of 2015. 

Tequilla Cowboy
Located on the North side of the Lansing Mall, Tequila Cowboy is a Western themed full-service sports bar complete with Karaoke. It is set to open December 3.  

Rally's
On Saginaw Hwy just east of Elmwood Blvd Rally's is set to build a new location on the site of the old Mancinos building.

Aspen Dental
Located in front of the West Saginaw Meijer, Aspen Dental is constructing a new location to service the residents of Delta Township. The new location is expected to be completed by spring of 2016.

MeLCat System Maitenance
MeLCat is the statewide union catalog and resource sharing service to share materials among all types of libraries in Michigan, regardless of the local circulation system they use.

The MelCat System  servers are being moved to a new host site and upgraded. Due to the complexity of the online traffic flow, the system will be completely shutdown until December 11.

Scheduled BWL Outage in December

As part of BWL's ongoing program to maintain and improve the existing electrical system in their service area, and to continue to provide reliable service to their customers, it will be necessary to interrupt electrical service in some areas for approximately 2 hours from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 3.

Realizing an interruption of electrical services is an inconvenience, BLW hopes the interruption will have the least possible inconvenience to their customers. If you use computers, they suggest you back up your files prior to the outage.

NOTE: In the event that BWL is unable to perform the work on the above date, this interruption will be rescheduled for Thursday, December 17 at the same time. The BWL reserves the right to reschedule at a later date. Please check the BWL advisory box at lbwl.com/outagecenter for scheduled outage changes, and refer to the outage ID 20151203001. 

If you have any questions, please contact T & D Department at 702-6317.

WARNING: Please consider disconnecting any electronically operated items for the outage. BWL will not reimburse customers for any failures discovered after a scheduled, pre-announced outage. Examples of electronically operated items include, TV's, radios, computers, phone systems, alarm systems, fax machines, etc.

Winter Road Plowing
in Delta Township

Eaton County Road Commission (ECRC) and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT)  are charged with snow removal in Delta Township.  MDOT is charged with snow removal for I-96, I-69, and Saginaw Highway, ECRC is responsible for all other public roadways.

CATA/Redi-Ride
Use Delta Redi-Ride to travel within Delta Township, or to connect with the following CATA fixed-route buses for seamless service to downtown Lansing and the greater Lansing area.
Delta Redi-Ride will not provide transportation to or from schools when school bus transportation is available to a student.
