Thank You for Choosing Delta Township
As we finish our holiday celebrations and prepare to enter into a new year, we take time to reflect on the things we are most grateful for and look towards another year of community togetherness and prosperity. Since it's humble beginnings, Delta Township has always had a strong sense of community and has never shied away from assisting those most in need.
Thanks to the help of our residents and some of our very own employees, we have helped to gather hundreds of pounds of food for the Greater Lansing Food Bank over the years, gathered clothing for those less fortunate, and we continue to offer free community programs to promote community unity. Additionally, each year we find our lobby over flowing with gifts around the holidays to assist those in need with providing a Christmas for their families.
The generous nature of our community may not be all that unique to our Township, however it is certainly something that we can all be proud of. So while you reflect on the past and plan for the new year, please know just how much each and every one of our residents means to us and how glad we are that you chose to make Delta Township your home.
Happy Holidays from the The Delta Township Board
Delta Township Set to Receive Nearly $500,000 in DNR Grant Funding
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) recently announced their lists of grant recipients for both the Land and Water Conservation Fund grants and the MDNR Trust Fund grants.
The Land and Water Conservation Fund federal grant program, administered in Michigan by the DNR, supports villages, cities, townships, counties and the DNR in their efforts to provide better public outdoor recreation opportunities for their residents and visitors. Delta Township's Mount Hope Park Development (Phase II) was granted $150,000 under this program. The total cost for this project is estimated at $500,000 and will include the construction of a picnic shelter, playground, and restrooms.
The MDNR Trust Fund grant program celebrated 40 years of funding high-quality outdoor recreation opportunities for Michigan residents and visitors. Over the past four decades, the Trust Fund has granted more than $1 billion to state and local units of government to develop and improve outdoor recreation opportunities. Through this program, Delta Township was recently awarded $337,500 for two projects designed to increase public access to quality outdoor recreation opportunities including a canoe launch and parking area on West Willow Hwy. and new restroom facilities at Delta Mills Park.
Including the 2016 recommendations, Delta Township has been awarded a total of $850,500 in DNR grant funding for six projects (total cost with matching funds come to $1,714,000) since 2014.
