New Outdoor Gym to be Installed at Sharp Park
Delta Township is excited to announce a new addition to one of our most popular parks. In the coming weeks an Outdoor Exercise Gym will be installed along the East-West Connector Pathway in Sharp Park. The exercise area will include 5 new pieces of equipment and will provide an opportunity for people to exercise and socialize in the beautiful outdoors. This project was a collaborative effort between the Delta Township Parks & Recreation Department and the Delta Township Senior Council. We would like to thank the Senior Council for their efforts on this project, and also acknowledge the generous financial contributions from the Capital Region Community Foundation and Greenfields Outdoor Fitness to make this project a reality.   As construction wraps up, the equipment will be available for use, and a tentative grand opening will be scheduled in early spring 2018.

Laminated pages from a children's book are attached to wooden stakes, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you're directed to the next page in the story. StoryWalks® have been installed in 50 states and 11 countries. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.  Beginning in September 2017, the StoryWalk® will be a permanent fixture along the Sharp Park path. In addition to pages from a picture book, each sign will feature a fun early literacy activity to do while walking. Different stories will be featured throughout the seasons. Library staff have chosen five book candidates for the inaugural StoryWalk® title. Updates to Zoning Ordinance

The Township has updated its zoning ordinance. The new zoning ordinance was part of a nearly 3-year effort, updating and replacing the previous zoning ordinance from 1990. The new zoning ordinance provides a more user friendly format for residents, existing and prospective businesses, and developers. Some highlights include less parking regulations and an overlay district for Saginaw Hwy.  To view a full copy of the updated ordinance click, here.
