Gregg Ginebaugh Named As New Delta Township Fire Chief

Delta Township has selected its next Fire Chief.  Gregg Ginebaugh, who is currently the Deputy Chief in Kentwood, Michigan, will begin on December 10 in Delta.

Chief Ginebaugh has served in many capacities in Kentwood including Fire Fighter, Fire Inspector, Fire Marshal, Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Fire Chief.  Chief Ginebaugh holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Lake Superior State University, is a certified Professional Emergency Manager, and graduate of the Executive Leadership Program for Fire Staff and Command at Eastern Michigan University.

Town ship Approves 2019 Budget, Fee Schedule & Meeting Schedule
 
The Delta Township adopted the recommended Fiscal Year 2019 budget at the November 12, 2018 Board meeting.

Each year the Delta Township Board reviews the structured fees charged for services.  During the November 12 Board meeting, the fee schedule was reviewed and approved to take effect on January 1.  Click below to review the 2019 Fee Schedule.

Delta Township Election Recap
 
Of the 25,387 registered voters in  Delta Township   as of November 6, 2018, 11,272 voted in their respective precincts while 6,207 absentee voters had their ballots processed by the Absent Voter Counting Board. Delta Township issued 6,398 absentee ballots with a 97% return rate.  Delta Township had a total of  17,479 voters a  68.85% turnout of the combined absentee and precinct ballots cast.  Delta Township saw the highest Gubernatorial Election turnout in over 20 years. In all, the state of Mic higan had 4,341,340 voters turn out for the mid-term election, a record that hasn't been broken in decades.

PURPOSE:  
The authorities of the Board of Review in their December session are limited to correcting the Homeowners Principal Residence Exemption status and to correcting qualified errors previously verified by the Assessor. A qualified error is a clerical error or a mutual mistake of fact. The Board of Review does not have the authority to review the valuation where no qualified error was made.
Delta Township Administrative Offices, including the Parks and Recreation Department, Clerk's Office, the Utility Department, Building Department, Engineering Department, Accounting Office and the Fire Department Administration Office   will be closed on the following dates in observance of the Christmas and New Year holidays:

Snow Removal Information

Snow Removal Reminder
Now that the snow has arrived, Delta Township property owners are reminded that they need to make arrangements to clear the snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property.   Section 34-92 of the Delta Township Code of Ordinances requires that snow and ice be removed from the sidewalk within 24 hours of a snowfall. The code applies even if the property is vacant or the building on the premises is unoccupied.

Overnight Parking Ordinance  
Please note that no  person shall  park  any vehicle, including a vehicle used for commercial or recreational purposes, or any trailer on either side of any highway, freeway, street, or roadway located within the township between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. of any day.

A person who violates the ordinance will receive a municipal civil infraction. The civil fine will be set from time to time by the township board by resolution.

A reminder that Delta Township does not remove snow off of the roadways.
 
Eaton County Road Commission (ECRC) and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) are the agencies charged with snow removal in Delta Township. MDOT is charged with snow removal for I-96, I-69, I-496 and Saginaw Highway, ECRC is responsible for all other public roadways.

Delta Township Recycling 
  • Electronics/Freon Collection - The Township is offering a monthly Electronics and Freon recycling event.  A fee of $.25 per pound will be charged for all electronics and a a fee of $20 each will be charged for small Freon containing items. Large kitchen appliances will not be accepted.  The collection of items will take place on Saturday December 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

2018 Winter Property Tax Coming Due
 
Winter 2018 property taxes are due February 14, 2019 and are payable to Delta Township. Bills are being mailed out today. After February 14, interest and penalties apply.
 
Beginning March 1, 2019 real property taxes (land and structures) are no longer payable to Delta Charter Township; payments must be submitted to the Eaton County Treasurer.
