Delta Township Utility Workers Rescue Missing Ring

Nearly two years ago, Cindi Schaftner's beloved wedding ring went missing after her five-year-old granddaughter accidentally dropped it down the toilet. After she and her husband checked the drain trap without any success, she made one last ditch effort to locate the ring when she contacted the Delta Township Utility Department.  The Township sent a crew over to take a look in the drain system near her house.  Unfortunately, her ring was nowhere to be found. Heartbroken, Cindi accepted that her ring would forever be lost.

Fast forward a year, Delta Township employees Bill Compton and Bill Rabideau were flushing pipes near the Schaftner's home when Rabideau spotted a shimmer of gold in the manhole.  He pulled the item from the sewer and remembered that the Schaftner's had asked for their assistance in locating a ring the year before; so they called their boss Gabe Ruiz who contacted Cindi's husband Phil.

They had indeed rescued the very ring that had gone missing the year before.  Before presenting his wife with her long lost ring, Phil took the ring for a thorough cleaning at the local jewelers and then used the ring to propose to his bride once again.

The Schaftner's are eternally grateful to the Delta Township employees that recovered and returned Cindi's wedding ring.
