Delta Township is Accepting Applications 
to Fill a Vacant Township Trustee Position

Due to a resignation, the Delta Township Board is accepting applications for the position of Township Trustee to fulfill the remainder of the current term. Delta Township Trustee is an elected position, filled by popular election to a four-year term. The appointment will be effective until the position is filled by popular vote in the November 2020 General Election. 
 
Duties : The Delta Township Board consists of a Supervisor, Treasurer, Clerk, and four Trustees vested with policy-making and legislative authority. Board members are responsible for adopting ordinances, approving the annual budget, appointing committee members, board and commission members, and hiring and oversight of the Township Manager who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Township. Board members typically attend board meetings the first three Mondays of the month at 6:00 p.m.
 
Qualifications Must be a qualified elector of Delta Township and registered to vote. To be a qualified elector, a person must be 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, and have lived in the Township at least thirty days.

The Delta Township Community Awards Committee is seeking nominations in each of the following four categories:
 
The Citizen of the Year Award will honor selected individual citizens whose extraordinary contributions go "above and beyond" to enhance the quality of life and general reputation of the township.
 
The Young Person of the Year Award is limited to high school seniors (whether traditional high school or home-schooled) who have made a positive contribution to the community, is an example to their friends, may have excelled in academics, music, arts, athletics, etc., or has successfully faced personal challenges. A $2,000 scholarship, sponsored by the Delta Side Business Association, will be awarded to the selected individual.
 
The Community Organization of the Year Award will honor selected groups or organizations for their dedication in serving and promoting Delta Township through volunteer contributions that has impacted the quality of life in Delta Township, provided leadership over a period of years, thereby contributing to the township's character, and/or made a valuable contribution that has enhanced the quality of life for residents of Delta Township. 
 
The Business of the Year Award will honor selected Delta Township businesses or business persons who have been responsible for exceptional outcomes between and among businesses, governments, and nonprofit organizations; OR, have served as a role model for other business; OR, have gone above and beyond the scope of business to support and promote Delta Township.  The goal is to promote shared community interests and encourage business harmony within the township and among entities of the Greater Lansing Region.
 
All nominations must be submitted no later than Thursday, September 27, at 5:00 p.m.  Nominations may be submitted online or a printable PDF version is also available.  If you choose to fill out a hard copy nomination form, please return it via email to Linda Wells at  lwells@deltami.gov, by mail to the Manager's Office, 7710 West Saginaw Highway, Lansing, MI 48917, or via fax to 517-327-1703.

Tickets are available online or in person in the Delta Township Accounting Office located at 7710 W. Saginaw Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917.  Tickets are $10 each if purchased prior to the event and $15 at the door.  tickets purchased online will be available at will call the night of the event.
Cintas Breaks Ground on New Delta Township Expansion



On Monday, September 24, Cintas Corporation broke ground on their new expansion, which was announced in December of 2017.  Cintas is adding a new commercial/industrial cleaning facility, as well as office space in the new expansion.

The project is expected to generate a total capital investment of $17 million and create 70 new jobs. In conjunction with the project, Cintas was awarded a $350,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant by the Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF).

Upcoming Events
  • Trick-or-Treat Trail - Take a walk on the spooky side and travel down the Trick-or-Treat Trail.  The trail follows the path around the pond at Sharp Park. Children will be showered with treats at spectacular displays set up by local businesses and organizations. Costumes are highly encouraged; its fun for the whole family. Join us for this spooktacular event on Tuesday, October 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Admission is just $1 per child. Kids must provide their own trick-or-treat bag.

  • Monster Mash - Join us for our annual Monster Mash event.  Its a Halloween dance for the entire family. Show off your costumes, dance to your favorite tunes including lots of Halloween favorites, enjoy refreshments, enter raffle drawings, and more. The cost is only $7 per person. Please note: there will be no alcohol sales at this event.  Pre-Registration is required. Register online or call 323.8555 to register by phone.  Be sure to register everyone that will be attending.  Walk-ins will not be permitted.

    $7 per person.
  • Drop-in Pint-Sized Picassos This program is held in the Delta Township Enrichment Center on Thursdays, September 20-October 25 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.    Let us provide the materials and clean-up while your child provides the creativity. There will be at least three different projects each week. The easels will also be available every week for the children to use. The cost is $1 per child, per week, adults are free. No need to register in advance.  Parent Participation is required.

The Delta Township Clerk's office accepts passport applications year around during regular office hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. -  5 p.m.

The Clerk's Office is offering passport drives during 2018.  One picture is required when submitting a passport application (Form DS-11 ONLY) and can be obtained at the Clerk's Office for a $12.00 fee. If you are in need of a new passport, or to renew your existing passport, and find it difficult to get to our office during regular office hours, mark your calendar.  The Clerk's Office will be open to accept passport applications (Form DS-11 ONLY)  Tues., Oct. 2 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
