Adding energy storage to buildings not only saves energy, energy costs, and water, but it also saves carbon. In this program, we will explore ways to use storage for heating and cooling as a way to minimize the impact of decarbonization on buildings.

Mark MacCracken
Vice President, CALMAC Portfolio for Trane

In November 2017, Mark MacCracken became the VP, CALMAC Portfolio for TRANE. Prior to CALMAC’s purchase by TRANE, he was CEO of CALMAC, which is one of the largest manufacturers of Thermal Energy Storage equipment in the world- with over 4,500 installations in 60 countries. With more than 44 years in the energy storage field, he has assisted in the design of hundreds of Ice Storage systems globally. Some of the larger installations include New York City for Rockefeller Center, Credit Suisse, Google, Goldman Sachs, and the Bank of America Tower.

He was the Principal Investigator on research projects with Oak Ridge National Labs, NASA, and National Renewable Energy Research Lab (SERI). He has his BS in Mechanical Engineering, three U.S. Patents, is a Professional Engineer, and a LEED® Fellow.

He is serving or recently has served as:
