Talking About 9/11/01 on 9/11/13

What do your students know about September 11th? What will they hear in the media?

It is your job to help them understand this pivotal moment in our history.

What happened on 9/11? Why? What was the impact? How does 9/11 affect our community and government today?  The 9/11 Tribute Center can help guide these conversations.

  • You can introduce the history now, but engage in a project later in the year.        Click here for a list of projects that other teachers have done with their students.
  • Engage your students in becoming historians and collecting memories of 9/11 from people in their own community. Click here for a teachers' and students' guide to conducting an oral history.

Bring Your Students to the 9/11 Tribute Center

Experience the powerful stories of those who were there. Students explore the history of this world-changing event and are left with a focus on the generosity and empathy of the response to the attacks.  Click here for more information.

Can't Make it to the 9/11 Tribute Center?

Our school guides can come to you via a Video Chat Program where classes are able to have a remote dialogue with a Tribute Guide who shows a slideshow of photographs, shares their personal 9/11 story, and answers any questions students may have. Email education@tributewtc.org for more information.
