Spotlight on Dance
Presented by Pas de Vie Ballet at Lee Hall, FAMU
May 17 - 18, 2019


Enjoy Spotlight on Dance featuring the talent of local dancers in traditional and original works choreographed by artistic directors Natalia Botha and Charles Hagan. The performance includes contemporary and neo-classical offerings with a touch of comedic character to round out the gamut of emotions.

Artur Popek Art Exhibition: 
Hemingway's Cat
Presented by Gadsden Arts Center & Museum
Exhibiton on display until June 1, 2019


"Hemingway's Cat" is an  exhibition featuring Artur Popek's award-winning graphic prints that span traditional printmaking techniques such as etching, aquatint, dry point, and mezzotint. Both his whimsical paintings and prints offer a detailed view into the artist's imagination, often inspired by nature and civilization. 

Futurebirds

See the first concert of the Sundown Concert Series featuring  Futurebirds with JB's ZydecoZoo.  Local nonprofits and food trucks will also be on site with food and craft beverages available for purchase. All proceeds from alcohol sales will go to local nonprofits.

Attend the first lecture of the Leon County Library Lecture series, "African-American Ascension: The Rise of The Black Middle Class 1865 to 1935." Dr.  Nashid Madyun  will examine the fleeting consciousness of the Historically African, the enslaved, the enfranchised, and the caste and class residue of separate, but equal.

Experience the romantic play, "12 Steps to Somewhere" written by Bev DeMelo and directed by Michelle Nickens. Rose deals with grief from her husband's death and meets Dylan, a young man with brain trauma. In her loneliness, she develops an unusual attraction to Dylan but he pushes her to confront a buried truth about her husband's death.
