Sprinkles of Fall

And just like that, it's October and it's misty and a little grey and very cozy. So as we settle into the fall, let's look forward to some fun things and also enjoy the quieter months with friends and family.

We are working hard to get Tia's Aftercare program back up and running. We have some updates, see below. It's slow going but we are making steady progress and she is so very much looking forward to seeing the kids smiling faces back in her room soon!

Spaghetti Bingo is back! See below for tickets and get 'em while you can - they go fast! We'll have prizes, yummy food and the best company in town on a Friday night.

Wishing you a safe and joy filled weekend!

TCSD Board of Directors Meeting

At the meeting, the Board will:

  • Receive an oral report from the Parks & Recreation Commission (PARC) on its activities.
  • Receive a presentation from the Sausalito-Marin City Sanitary District (SMCSD).
  • Discuss status update on adopted TCSD goals & priorities for 2025.
  • Review the draft park and facility maintenance plan for Eastwood, Kay, and Kott parks, Rock Garden at Flamingo, Community Center, Cabin, and open space parcels.
  • Authorize the renewal of the master landscape maintenance contract with Jorge’s Tree Service in an amount not to exceed $66,780 for TCSD parks and facilities.

Use Permit Appealed- No Debris/Shredding Day This Year

As previously reported, the use permit for 305 Bell Lane has been appealed again by Mr. Gervais. As a result, TCSD will be unable to hold a Debris/Shred Day this year. The public hearing before the County Board of Supervisors (BOS) is set for November 4th at the Marin County Civic Center. The weekly newsletter will provide more information as it becomes available.

Lost and Found - Oktoberfest

Did you leave something behind? Do you only have one tiny running shoe at home? Come down to the office at 305 Bell Lane 8am-4:30pm to claim your items. Whatever isn't claimed by October 15th will be donated.

TIA'S CORNER

Aftercare Updates

We are pleased to finally be able to announce that West America After Care will be officially expanding their aftercare program to Tam Valley School. Lara Zegart, the director, grew up in Tam Valley and attended Tia's aftercare when she was at Tam Valley school! She will be supporting Tia in continuing to provide care to the kids in our wonderful community, while taking over the back end to meet compliance standards. There could not be a better scenario for honoring all that Tia has built.

We understand this has been a difficult time for parents as they patch together childcare and we are so grateful for your patience while we relaunch this wonderful play-based childcare program.

We have rates set and you can find out more here. Registration will be open October 15th with care beginning the first week of November.

If you would like to stay updated on the process, you can sign up here to receive updates. You can also check West America After Care's page for Tia's Program. It is in process but it will have updates soon.

Click here for more information about how we got here.

Rides for Tia

Thank you to all who have signed up so far and to Donna Bailey for coordinating rides for Tia. We still need some help so that she has full coverage when the program is up and running.

Sign up here to help Tia with rides to and from school.

TRASH TALK

Compost Pail Update and a Farewell from our Climate Fellow

  • Compost pail deliveries will be completed next Tuesday (10/07). Only 100 pails left to be delivered. Special thanks to those of you who took the time to return your pails to the office instead of throwing it in your garbage cart.
  • Feel free to place your newspaper bags into the various doggie bag dispensers at TCSD facilities. This saves the District quite a bit of money.

A note from Abbie:

My fellowship with TCSD has come to an end, and along with it so will my ‘Dear Abbie Column’. The Trash Talk section of the newsletter will continue to be run by Camille. This section will be used to update residents on any new solid waste news, along with any tips/tricks to make recycling and composting easier. Any specific questions you have about recycling or composting can be directed to the TCSD office or emailed to info@tamcsd.org

I have enjoyed learning more about this district and its residents! My main takeaway from this fellowship is how important it is to recycle and compost our waste. Senate Bill 1383 is generating a lot of positive change by reducing greenhouse emissions from landfills and providing more education on waste sorting practices in California. I appreciate all the residents who have reached out with questions. The more people dedicated to this mission, the better!

It is an honor to bring you the news of Tam Valley each week. If you have any questions about our newsletter, want to see something included or would like more information about our events, please reach out to me at events@tamcsd.org.
