TCSD Board Meeting Summary


The Board held a special meeting at 5:45pm for the purposes of a closed session to discuss anticipated litigation with legal counsel. No reportable actions were taken. For more information click here for the letter and memo attached to the closed session agenda.

 

At the regular meeting, the Board took the following key actions:

  • Provided initial policy guidance to CMG Landscape Architecture for the Community Center Masterplan including public comment from the meeting
  • Received monthly and quarterly financial reports and the quarterly Treasurer’s report
  • Approved the purchase/installation of a shed for the corporation yard in amount not-to-exceed $30,000
  • Received a report on authorized emergency work of approximately $90,000 plus permit fees to repair the sewer line located near 354 Pine Hill Road and continued the emergency action for the work
  • Approved the provision of a one-time benefit of eight (8) hours of additional staff holiday pay in recognition of the excellent customer service responses from the community survey conducted in spring 2024
  • Authorized the renewal of the master landscape maintenance contract with Jorge’s Tree service in an amount not to exceed $66,780 for TCSD parks and facilities

 

Under the General Manager’s (GM) report, the GM indicated that the PG&E update on the replacement transmission tower location has been rescheduled for January or February 2025. PG&E needs more time to evaluate the locations.

Annual Board of Directors Holiday Gathering


The next Board meeting is on December 11th. At this meeting, the newly elected Board members will be sworn in. Immediately following the December 11th meeting is the Board’s annual Holiday Gathering. Everyone is encouraged and invited to attend the Holiday Gathering at the Tam Valley Community Center. We will have light refreshments for all to enjoy.


Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting Summary


At the, November 7th PARC meeting, the new commissioner, Dave Hafferty, took his oath of office and attended his first official meeting. The meeting highlights included discussions regarding: a) the upcoming Movie Night and Speaker Series events, b) preliminary costs for a sun shade in Kay Park and potential type of improvements to the Rock Garden at Flamingo, c) concepts for the Community Center Masterplan consultant to consider, d) future PARC meeting schedule including a special meeting at the Board meeting (11/13/24) to discuss the masterplan, and e) coordination of efforts to distribute door hangers in “Birdland.”

 

The next PARC meeting is December 5th at 3:00pm in the Tam Valley Community Center.


Tam Valley Tuesdays - Speaker Series


Thank you all who came out to see Ghosts of the Golden Gate - Now and Then. Ted Barone offered an insightful and entertaining presentation and we had such an engaged audience. Thank you to the Parks and Recreation Commission for bringing this lively new series to our community!


We will not have a speaker in December since it's such a busy month but stay tuned for the series lineup in 2025.

Join our PARC Commissioner, Michael Bogart, for the first in a series of Garden Talks. This casual garden series will start with a topic and information shared by our expert and then flow from there. It’s a chance to share your experience with your friends and neighbors and to learn from each other.

We’ll have tea and coffee to share, great conversation and a healthy dose of inspiration for your garden

Emergency Preparedness Event

Saturday, November 23rd

Tam Valley Community Center


Calling residents of Tam Valley — Join Southern Marin Fire District at Tam Valley Community Center for a joint emergency preparedness and community education. This family friendly event will cover important topics including evacuations, go-bags, emergency plans, highlight the recent wildfire prevention work that's taken place throughout Tam Valley, and include fun, interactive activities for children of all ages. We hope to see you there! 


BONUS: Bring your Go Bag to be checked and receive supplies for your kit! (While supplies last.)
