Sunshiny Days in the Valley

So lovely to see the sun shining as we settle into springtime in the valley. We hope you get out and enjoy it this weekend. There is still some compost left at the community center for local residents to pick up and use in their gardens. We are offering a good canine citizen workshop with the Marin Humane Society at Eastwood Park tomorrow morning if you would like to learn some new skills for socializing with your pup. See more below.

The opening weekend of the Tam Valley Improvement Clubs' Rhubarb Revue was a hit! If you missed it last weekend, grab the tickets that are left for Saturday and come on down to enjoy the show! See below to get your tickets.

Tuesday evening, our Speaker Series continues with the History of the Mountain Play. Join us to hear about the rich history of this local treasure. Tickets are free but it's helpful if you can let us know if you plan to attend - RSVP below.

Wishing everyone a wonderful, sunshiny weekend!

Wishing you a safe and joy filled weekend!

Proposed Shade Structure at Kay Park

Based on requests for increased shade areas at Kay Park we are considering the following option. The proposed canopy is 18 ft x 18 ft x 10 ft (entry height) with a center post. It would be located in the picnic table area. The Parks & Recreation Commissioners will be visiting with the adjacent neighbors to get their feedback on the canopy.

You can email TCSD at info@tamcsd.org with your comments. In the subject line write “shade canopy.” or complete the comment form on the website (link below). Comments are due May 9th.

FIRE SAFETY

The Goats Are Coming!

It's that time of year again! The goats are expected this week so keep an eye out on the hillsides for them!

Prescribed Burn

Throughout the last decade prescribed burns have been used to naturally mitigate fire fuels throughout many public lands in Marin on TCSD lands. It has been done a couple times in the last 10 years in the Rhubarb Meadow. We have noticed that there has been a build up a significant amount of tree branches and fallen fuels that have become more evident since the goats have started grazing five or six years ago.

TCSD has coordinated with County Fire to do a prescribed burn in the Rhubarb Meadow, just after the goats are through below Marin View, the week of May 19. This will help to create defensible space between open space and Marin View and is important to fire safety. The Rhubarb Meadow is inaccessible for a chipper so a prescribed burn is necessary.

Please be aware that there will be some smoke from the fires. Please do not call 911 to report a fire.

We anticipate the burn days to be May 22nd and 23rd but we are coordinating according to the weather.
